So this girl gives me her composite to slice, and I slice it. She's super pleased with the results, and tips me almost double what my price was. Then, she comes back with her armor on, minus the arms. She sends me a tell, saying "Umm, I think it needs to be sliced a teensy bit more."
Of course, at this point, I told her about how it can only be sliced once, andadvised her about spice and/or Doc buffs, to help her get into the rest of the suit. Heh, funny how the ones who want Effectiveness, get Encumbrance, and vice-versa.

Absolutely have to love the observation skills of some people.
Background: standing in the Narmle starport on Rori with 4 other people. Master Smuggler title up. Character is searchable.
I see the /yell pop up in spatial at max range "Looking for a smuggler to slice my armor." I don't respond to yells or shouts or anything not actually directed at me for my slicing work. I twiddle my fingers and continue to wait.
I hear footsteps behind me and look just in tme to see the big white bubble "Looking for a smuggler to slice my armor." He's in a full suit of comp. Assuming all 9 need slicing that's 36k.... Nah.
Took nearly 3 more minutes for the shuttle to arrive and 3 more /yells went by.
I waved to him before I left.

Man: Can you slice my weapons?
Me: Sure 3k per slice
Man: Ok ....Speed please
Hands me 3 Swords
Me: Its totally random speed or damage
Man: Yes i know
Me: 20% Damage...18% Damage....31% Damage
Hand over weapons and he tips me 9k
Man: Thanks man!

pharfignewton wow that was just plain great, you could not think of a more perfect situation to form itself.
I can only imagine how trippy it was for you to have some guy show up like that when your out in the middle of nowhere andwow that is a great story.

I've now had slicing 4 for about a week, just got my first truly awful customer:
I'm shouting my slicing macro in coronet when i get a tell from someone asking for a slice. He was a high-level characted and appeared rather competent (I've learned to fear the Novice Marksman decked in newbie clothes who wants a slice). He unequips his weapon (yay!) and promptly hands me four assorted meele wepons of various quality, pay the proper 8k up front, and hits accept (yay!). I slice them, telling the results. He's happy over a high-20s speed slice, we mourn together for the poor vibroknucklers that got a 14% damage slice (but he doesn't blame me! yay!), and we promptly and efficiently trade back (yay!).
Then everything went downhill. I don't remember how the conversation went exactly, but it was something like this:
Guy: Thanks! By the way, i like your outfit. You got the Star Trek look perfectly.
*twitch... inner Star Trek hater in me violently aroused... remaining calm... twitch*
Me: lol, not exactly what I was aiming for.
Guy: Well you got it! I thought you were [some random Star Trek character] from far away!
*... must... not... destroy... customer...*
Guy: Anyways, thanks for the slice! Bye!
*pressure mounting... rampage imminent*
Me: Thanks to you too, and good luck!
*Guy leaves. I burst into tears. How i loved my outfit... now it is tainted. Time to go buy a novice marksman suit off the bazaar, and hire a bounty hunter against the friendly customer of death.*

here's one that happend to me a couple of days ago:
i was in bestine, looking at the bazaar (for interesting goodies) and a guy comes up to me for slicing.
i tell him my rate (percent slices) and he accepts and trades over 3 pieces of ST armor. no great pieces, but boots and bracers. i slice them and get encumberance on the bracers, and effectivness on the boots. anyways, it came out to 8900 credits. i happened to say everything in spatial, seems to generate business as i don't shout that i am slicing, then this guy says that i am ripping him off, charging him double and what not. i cooly reply with the tested and true responce of "fine, i will hold onto these items untill you do pay me." after i say that he /tell's me that he will pay, but he continues to **edit** it spatial. after he gets his items back, and i get paid he goes on saying that i ripped him off, by charging him double what it was worth. i think that in my earlier days i would get offended, but i had my Master title on, and there were 6 or so other people around that heard the whole goings-on. and i actually had a guy come to my defence. it was wonderful. telling the guy that it took work to get master smuggler, and that masters were the best slicers and all of that good stuff. i tell ya, my chest was puffed out haha. just goes to show you that while there are ignorant/annoying poeple, there are still some great ones that make it worth it.

Well, It's not directly related to the profession, but I am a smuggler now, it happened while I was slicing a terminaland it was pretty funny.
My computer at home has an internet router that plays that old-fashioned trick of bumping me every 10-15 minutes from the server. (Tried the firmware fix, no luck) So anyways, as frustrating as it is, I've gotten used to it happening and eventually started calling it my Jedi Disconnect Trick, JDT for short. The guys in my guild know all too well what I mean when I say "Sorry, got JDT'd again while you were talking." So I've grown to embrace this phenomenon and give it a place in my bio: "Master of the Jedi Disconnect Trick".
Anyways, this guy comes up to me today while I had one of my architect tags up, and says "What's the JDT?", I explain that my router kicks me every so often at the worst possible time, and I just made it up for fun. So then he asks about my Jedi. I dont have one I tell him, remember? Bad router joke....
His response. "cool, that happens to me about 3 times a day too, but I'm not a jedi..."
I just stopped trying to explain at that point and thanked the Lord that the conversation took 2 minutes, so I could slice another terminal.
