Your point?Nowhere in that statement are the words "We're nt going to do a smuggler revamp".
I do, however see him saying "We're going to stop promising..."
World of difference there my friend.
Oh come on Ihareo I know you're smarter than that. Youve been around long enough to realize a putoff when you see one. You dont believe that side-step when the government pulls it, you dont believe it when your utility company pulls it. What makes this greedy corporation any different?
THankyou for that Eeman.Because if it were a greedy corporate thing, he would have promised another date and given some tidbit to get people all exited. But instead of pulling the billsh1t buisnessman smile-and-a-handshake, he's saying they're not going to promise anything anymore.
What means to me, is that it may happen, it may not. Either way, don't get your hopes up and keep your feet on the ground.
Whatever it means, he's still not saying "It won't happen". ANd that's what people keep (mis)quoting. I saw a few days ago where somone quoted his post, but actually changed the words from "stop promising" to "NOT NOT NOT going to happen" then went off on a self ritieous tirade about being stepped on by the DEVs.
Maybe it's going to happen, and maybe it's not. Interpret his words how you will, but please stop misquoting the man. He has braved Tiggs wrath to bring us this information, lets give him the credit and respect to not twist it, please? *pleading look in my eye*
are you really that ignorant? really?
no one is "twisting" his words, we're simply understanding what he's saying.
just because someone doesn't re-type is exact words, does not mean they don't know what he's saying.
and just because you keep quoting his exact words does not mean you know what he's saying, because you've proved to us that you have no idea.

You have no real end game, you have no reason for anyone to be anything other then a Jedi or a Bounty Hunter. This is Star Wars galaxies and people want to be Smugglers, Rangers, Squad Leaders, people want to go to war as a Rebel or Imperial and have it mean something. Something as simple as letting a squad leader call down air strikes or letting him have 3 NPC's at master would add so much to a profession that is pointless, Smugglers smuggling, Rangers linking two groups of 8 out in the wild so guilds can actually go out together again. It's really not hard to come up with this stuff. Your killing this game not us.
You're saying this because you don't roleplay the game, but take it as an arcade game. I agree that there are many things in this game that are unbalanced and tons of bugs that need fixes, but the game is funny for me because I roleplay my two chars.
HA!
you're coming here, to the Smuggler forum, and tell us that we don't Roleplay?
we've got one of the STRONGEST Roleplaying communities here within our profession community.
why? because in order to even live up to our profession's name, we HAVE TO ROLEPLAY.
Yim is right on the money.
we paid for a game that would allow us to create characters that would behave a certain way, within the virtual game world. what we got was just the virtual game world. and we have to do all the work when it comes to behavior.
and NO, we're not lazy, most of us are and were fully willing to put forth effort to Roleplay, but eventually you realize you can get about the same (and maybe more) enjoyment WITHOUT paying SOE $15 a month for a fancy graphical chatroom.

Time for a grammar lesson.this, is a quotation mark. "
A quotation mark is used when you wish to quote somone or somthing. A quote is repeating the exact words that the person used.
Whena persontypesthe following:
JFreeman wrote:"I can say that we can't really give any specifics about our plans, other than we are NOT NOT NOT going to do a smuggler update."That person ismisquoting and twisting words.Your anger betrays you GanymedePharuu (clever name btw). For in your rush to make a snappy comeback you are failing to realize that you know no more about what's going on in the DEV department than I. Therefore, it is not I that is ignroant, it is you has jumped to a conclusion.I did not say 'This means they are going to do a smuggler revamp'. I only repeated his words that they are going to stop promising. You interpret "we plan to stop promising a smuggler revamp that we never seem to get around to delivering." to mean that a smuggler revamp is never going to happen. This is your hangup, and your interpretation. I'll thank you to not insult me because my opinion differs from yours.Message Edited by Ihareo on 09-01-2005 05:16 AM
ok... you keep on believing that they'll put that Smuggler revamp in.
i'll believe in something a bit more solid, like the $15 a month that i'm now spending much more wisely.
my account runs out tomorrow, so i'll not be around to give grammar lessons to until they DO introduce Smuggling. actually, they'll need to introduce Star Wars before i come back.

Did your brain fall out your ear hole?
I didn't say I believe a smuggler revamp is coming, I merely corrected a misquote.
The 'I did not murder him' scene from 'I Robot'is going through my head right now...

This is because you want the last word isnt it?I don't have an opinion one way or another about the smuggler revamp, other than to say I don't like the current smuggler profession.There. Now have your last word.
Its so bad I dont even consider it a 'profession' ... i mean everyone can turn on the roleplayer tag no? I could just as easily be a master pistoleer or TKM pretending to be a smuggler

Really? Then what was Jabba after him for I wonder?
that's just one example.
have you ever read any of the books relating to Han Solo? or Lando Calrissian?
there's a bunch of cases where successful Smuggling is fun. dangerous. thrill-a-minute. but still successful, and still fun.
good day.

Yes I have. And those are not successful runs.
A successfull Smuggling run is one that goes completely smoothly. What Han and Lando did was pull off the job DISPITE the problems.
