loved the series watched when it came on tv and was sad when it was taken off. loved the movie. best movie i seen this year and i've only seen three movies this year anyway.

go see it get your friends we must get this movie at number 1. flight plan is crap and shouldn't have been top box office. so lets knock that piece of crap down and raise serenity to the top.

I really hope this movie makes enough money to get the series back as well as the movies. I'd love to see a second season on the si-fi channel...

Same here.

I've 'heard' of Enders Game (I personally thought it was a movie, guess its actually a book), but know nothing about it. Nerver heard of Orson Scott Card. Regardless, the guy that wrote it LOVED Serenity.

Cool quote from the review:

Orson Scott Card on Serenity: "I'm not going to say it's the best science fiction movie, ever. Oh, wait. Yes I am."

OT: short synopsisof Ender's Game

Earth is in a desperate war against a highly destructive alien species, literally fighting for the survival of mankind. It's so bad that children are taken away from their families and put into military training centers toturn them into soldiers and leaders. One of them is "Ender" Wiggins, whogoing by all tests they couldput him through seems to be a tactical genius. The book details his training at the military academy as it turns out that he just might be mankind's last hope. Hence his nickname - he's the one that's supposed to end the war.

And that's all I'm gonna tell you, don't want to spoil it - go and read it yourself. But it's one of the best sci-fi novels ever, and a year or two back there were even rumors of Orson Scott Card working on a script and looking to get this turned into a movie. So if he likes Serenity, that's one more reason to watch it, not that I'd need one. I just have no idea if it will ever hit the theaters hereabouts or if I'll have to wait for the DVD

Sounds pretty cool. Wish I had more time to read, lately reading time has been a bit scarce.

Orson Scott Card is EASILY the best sci fi writer EVER. I love firefly, and Serenity kicked ass, albeit i was FURIOUS at some spots. Card enjoying this gives it that much more credit.

Oh, for those who know and love Card novels, Ender's Game is getting made into a movie, and the series could become another epic of Star Wars/Trek proportions.

Can't quite agree with that statement. I would have to go with Philip K. **edit**.

Hehe... that discussion could fill a thread of its own. Needless to say, I don't agree with either of you
(although Card and he-whose-name-gets-censored-by-Lithium are both great writers and I respect them both greatly)

I have seen Serenity twice now, great movie! However i am somewhat concerned by the small attendance at the showings i went to here in Colorado, i hope it is not an indication of overall performance for the movie. The total bx office reciepts look like it might not make it to a second or third installment, let aone a return to tv. There is hope however in that there are still many other countrys to be shown in.

I think the oportunity forcharacter developmentin future shows is unlimited and especially for River. There were some sad ind interesting twists in the movie and it makes you wonder where it might all end up. The fight scenes with River were so well put together and gracefully intergrated with Summers dancing background. I really hope that it gets more oportunitys in the future.

Yeah, I've seen it several times now, and the turnout is really dropping off. Very sad for such a great movie.

According the the Box Office Mojo website, earnings from the movie have halved in it's second weekend in the US. While that's a normal trend, the initial box office income wasn't too hot though(I forget the exact numbers, but opening weekend results were around 10-12 mil $). Total projected earnings in the US at this rate about $27million - anything than a roaring success, and Europe won't help much to improve that Hopefully they'll do a bit better on the DVD sales once those are available.

But a basis for two more movies? Rather doubtful...
