Frankly I would rather have the developers institute a way to have pistol be a requirement for smuggler, but you could make any other tree in any profession your second tree requirement a la GM's discussion thread he had with us way back.

This will allow many to do what they want and it won't leave others unhappy.

Switch the pistol pre-req to ranged support. More flexibility in choosing what ranged profession you choose.


(Smuggler has general ranged mods, not pistol)

this i strongly agree with, and have posted before. business IV is appropriate. We have product to move (spice, or maybe someday smuggled loot), and THAT is the real point of the profession.

Make the prereq business IV and add some hiring skill to the smuggler tree somewhere so we can at least have 1 or 2 NPC vendors. Not full crafters or artisans.. but businessman... of a special sort.

Ah, but should they push the concepts in the concept doc live, Business 4 would prove utterly useless to us: No Spice, sliced items, or other 'contraban' on bazaar or vendors!

I've always thought that Smuggler should be: 0400 Marksman (Pistols IV) + 4000 Artisan (Engineering IV) to account for the slicing (it used to be this way didn't it? in addition to the current prerequisites). This would have been great for me when I was a Droid Engineer/Smuggler, but since I dropped DE after the CU (couldn't handle two broken professions) it would screw me up now though.

I agree that Survival IV would also make sense (doesn't necessarily mean you are the outdoors type, simply a survivor). Brawler, however, makes no sense to me at all. I want to talk or shoot my way out of a brawl, and if all else fails call on my sidekick.
