I'm not arguing for Commando coming first (hell I'm the Smuggler correspondent, I want us first and foremost), but I'm also not annoyed that another profession has a developer looking at them.
We have Smuggler missions schedualed tentatively to arrive in November and if there aren't any, there's going to be hell to pay, both on these boards and presumabley (hopefully) in the gaming press. I don't see Commandos being asked what bugs need fixing the most as a precursor or even indication that Mr. Morning Star is going to have his home handed over.
Commandos want a revamp, but even we know how hard the smugglers have been tagging along trying to get that carrot. Hell I have been there most of the way with you. I really want commandos to get the AoE fix, and maybe grenade fix then see our Revamp done. I stress this again, not a revamp, but a fix to commando, then we get what's coming to us IMO!

Commandos cite that other professions have AOE attacks that do 100%. Problem is this--it's a SPECIAL that does the AOE, not the WEAPON. For Commandos, if they use that weapon, EVERY attack is AoE. But to tell Smugglers to get in line simply because they have a "viable combat role" is like saying "Okay, Jedi, you may not be able to use a lightsaber, but you CAN make blob candy. So you'll just have to wait." We didn't ask to be made exclusively combat. We asked to be SMUGGLERS that do SMUGGLING for people that have things that need SMUGGLED. What we got was "Oh, you want a sandwich? Here's an old boot. Enjoy!" Sure, dabblers can find a million uses for that old boot, but what about those of us that got the Novice Smuggler box so that we could become master SMUGGLERS?
Give us the Smuggler revamp, make it stick, and we'll leave you alone for good on the matter. Then you can revamp whoever until the banthas come home, and we'll just smile.
Correct. Splash damage in game terms should mean a smaller amount of damage spread over a large area.Asopposed to a largeamount of damage focused on a singletarget (ie. most weapons).It shouldn't mean an atomic bomb. You trade off high damage for hurting multiple targets.

Although I would agree that AOE weapons with a higher CL requirement should obviously should obviously cause more damage. But never more than the equivilent standard weapon. To compensate for the minimised damage, you should get dizzy effects or cause mobs to panic and retreat. Splash damage isn't strictly about straight damage - it's about demoralising and confusing your opponents to make them easier to pick off.

Barrels, firkins, kilderkins, hogsheads, butts, rundlets, tierces, puncheons, and pipes. You will be the MASTERS OF CASKS. Jedi will cower before your ability to shape and craft staves.
And then you'll have some idea of just how WONDERFUL it is that Smugglers are sooooo good at Crowd Control.

Ok so far you admitted to GETTING SOMETHING. Commanod got nothing. As for AOE being 100/100 damage that's not the way it's supposed to work. It is supposed to be 100/40 so the "spalsh damage" does 40% of the assigned combat damage. Currently it does 100/1. That's right, 1 damage.
As for not asking for a combat role, sorry bud but this is a COMBAT ORIENTED game. You get to preform respectably in Combat, sell, drugs, and perform an illegal service to weapons and armor. What is your point?
