Thread: Can we *please* stop hijacking threads?
First of all, I apologize for the harsh tone of my initial message. It was not intended to be a rebuke, but I understand how it could come across as such.
One person asked how I could condem the "Can you swing over to the Smuggler board" messages but at the same time suggest that a friendly reminder is appropriate. While those statements are their own are certainly contridictory, I think in full context it was at least semi-clear. Especially after my third post where I suggested that things like that be placed in a .sig. What I condemed (really harsh word, but I suppose it's what I did
) is posts who's sole purpose is a statement like that when the thread they're posted in has nothing to do with Smugglers.Others posted with statements suggesting that the discussion was good even though they didn't agree with my tone. Most (perhaps even all) disagreed with pretty much everything I said, though that really isn't suprising
.And one person (sorry, I'm too lazy to even click the back button and see who it was) even asked if I thought their signature was appropriate. I'd say yes. It's got a splash of color to draw a person in, but it's not overdone. It's at the bottom of an intelligent and on topic post. The only thing wrong (by my "standards" is that you reffered to your signature in the post
.Anyway, I don't think that I have anything more to add, I just didn't want people to think that I was outright ignoring them because they disagreed with me.

Your idea about the signatures is a good one. It draws attention without hijacking threads unrelated to our plight.
At anyrate, I 5-starred your posts Jake. I have said it before, and I will say it again - just because someones opinion differs from yours, its not a real good reason to 1-star them. Dat made a good point that its exactly those types of topics that get us to think and discuss, ultimately unifying and strengthening our community.
The general feeling of the CU for Smuggler seems to be a good one (from what we can gather without breaking the NDA). I think that as soon as it is done we will see marked improvements in our profession. After, I am thinking that we are on top of the heap to recieve addtional work on our non-combat related trees.
If not, I fear the results coming from this profession. The dam will break, and it will be a flood of emotion. And no amount of pleading will stop the rush of rabid postings.
