Points and counter points, each to his own in my opinion, which hardly counts for much....

Nonsense Flufball
My opinion, along with $4.75 will get me a Grande Mocha from Starbucks!!
I think threads like this are valuable because it allows players to share their viewpoints in a constructive manner. We go back and forth, but I don't believe this divides the smuggler community, only strengthens it by encompassing other viewpoints.
This posts in this discussion have all been civil, and I think, along with the discussion thread "A decidedly unpopular decision" shows that there are smugglers herewith some real courage to post their opinion which run contrary to the majority opinion - You don't necessarily see this on other boards - but I think it's a credit to the smugglers that players feel confident that their opinions, which go against the majority (maybe), won't result in them being called names, or cheap shots taken.
But as always that's just my 2 cents. Damn, I just need another 4.73 to get a Mocha which I really need!!
Cheers

Jake, you said "we"...does that mean you do it also?
I think 'hijacking' a thread is mroe turing the whole thread into a new subject which clearly does NOT happen when any of make an off-topic smuggler post. They're most often just ignored.
Personally I'm at the point where I'll post any place I'm likely to get it in front of a devs eyeball. I'm fed up after sitting here as a so-called smuggler (which we are most certainly NOT) since live and being shoved under the carpet by the devs over and over again. If they ban me I'll just figure the writing is on the wall and take my money elsewhere. Then again I may do that anyway, I ran out of patience ages ago and have been running on my on masochistic tendencies since.

Yearrrgggghhh this message be officially hijacked... It's time for a keel-hauling.
The above comment reminds me of a penny-arcade strip from a little bit ago, about the devs warping protesters into space.

You know, I'm so sick of seeing Smugglers moping all over the SOE boards... especially trying to hyjack threads that have been posted in by Devs. Things like "As long as you're here, can you swing over to the Smuggler boards?" or "Seen GreenMarine lately? We could really use his presence on the Smuggler boards." I know that Smuggler is in need of work. I know that Smugglers were promissed some love a while back they was never received. Guess what? Priorities changed. The Holocron/grinding system was literally destroying the game. It had to be changed. Jump to Lightspeed was promissed the summer of 2004 and being a money-making expansion, it had to go out. Don't forget that SOE is a corporation and as such they primary objective is to make money. Without money, there are no servers, there are no Devs (do you really think these guys work for free?), there is no game. The combat balance (or rather upgrade) has to come before the Smuggler revamp. If they revamp Smuggler without fixing combat first, we'll still be broken. While not everything, combat is still a part of the profession. The combat upgrade will effect 2 (dirty fighting and spice) of our lines and possibly even a third (slicing). While it is roughly 20% of what we need to be complete (in my eyes, underworld shoud really define the profession and be 90% different than it is now), it is still needed. We should be glad they put us off behind the combat upgrade as it means they'll devote more time and energy to doing the job right and building off the combat upgrade.
So, my main point is: please stop whining all over the boards. Not only will it not accomplish anything, it may even have a negative impact. Don't forget that behind those "red names" are human beings are they are completely susceptable to the physcologies of human emotions (woah, did I just write that?). I know that I, personally, am less likely to do something if I am constantly pestered about it, even if I fully intended to do it in the first place (do note there is a difference between pestering and friendly prodding/reminding).
Dude, how do you recommend "friendly prodding/reminding" yet condone statements such as "As long as you're here, can you swing over to the Smuggler boards?" or "Seen GreenMarine lately? We could really use his presence on the Smuggler boards."? How do you define such statements as not being "friendly prodding/reminding"?
I am really at a loss for words here.
While you do bring up valid points, you need to remember just who you are talking to here, especially your tone. Expression from our community is more important than the few people who misinterpret "friendly reminders" and get insulted by their misinterpretations. I for one do not appreciate it. I am one starring your post.
