Thread: New date for revamp :(
Smuggler is as it stands right now just a bothersome professsion with too few advantages to keep it and it seems like it is going to stay that way for some time. Yes alot of ideas on the smuggler rewamp are cool and all yet if the smuggler fighting style does not change when the conditions of being a smuggler become harder i doubt a lot of people would lie the profession anyway. It is a good thought to put bounties on the smuggers for example yet if the smugglers do not even have a chance of protecting themselves when only having the smuggler proffesion i do not really see the advantages of bounties on their heads other than a means to compensate the bpunty hunters for not being able to hunt jedis. I think this should be taken in consideration when working on the smuggler rewamp (if the smuggler rewamp will ever be).
Again i say i love smuggler and whatever professions my mnain character will have in the future smuggler is not someting im willing to give up, just because of what it should be,.

Actually, I'm finally angry. It was said that smugglers were a space-based profession and that we were being put off in an effort to get JTL running so we could get some content. Now there is no content and JTL is out. Let alone the fact that the novice pilot profession is decidedly the weakest profession in space. I really enjoy SWG for all the things that it got right and UO got wrong. But I'm starting to think it is time to look seriously at another game. I want to be a smuggler. I don't want to be the least effective class in a game that seems to favour everyone being a Jedi, BH, or elite brawler. It wouldn't be bad if I could at least smuggle. They could have their solo-krayt fighting fencers and one-hit-kill assassins. And I could come screaming into hyperspace with a trail of blaster fire chasing me as I ran something from somewhere to somewhere. That doesn't seem like a lot to ask for....
I was holding on for the last few months for the fact that JTL (which was the reason the last smuggler revamp was pushed back due to us getting content in it) was suppose to have smuggler missions for SMUGGLERS not who ever showed up. Now that thats out and we all know we have been screweds AGAIN. They tell us combat needs to be revampeds. Well no kidding from the day the game came out but now we suffer for another service to the SWG community. But wait it won't stop there. Because once they "fix" (which means destroy) combat/pvp next they will have to fix there fix. Then they will have to fix that one. Then omg JTL is in trouble, Not one will want to play the fly my ship here and shoot /repeat game anymore because no one put any thought into it. SO now they have to fix that. And of course they will screw that up and do it over and all the while WE THE SMUGGLERS have been forgotten once, 5 times again. Not to mention that slicing/reverse engineering was given to a nonsmuggler. HOW NICE

Mr. Stangl said in hisfirst postthat the closed beta probably wouldn't start until after the holidays, which puts it in the first week of January. Figure 3 weeks for closed beta, 3 for open beta, which puts the publish in the middle to end of February. Then, you have various 'non-combat' profession publishes. I know that we expect to be at the front of the list (as do several other professions, I'm sure).Assuminga normal 6 week publish cycle, thatputsus at the end of March.
Whatconcerns me is the fact that we will not likely be the sole focus of the publish. This was implied several times in the responses by Mr. Stangl. With only 6 weeks and one dev, I fear that the revamp will fall far short of our expectations.
There's a newDev post on profession revamps here:

I haven't really looked at WoW much, since I play CoH instead (and love it), but that's largely because I'm a little wary of another large-scale game and the types of folks who'll head there (nothing personal, maloso -- I don't know your playstyle). I worry that the powergamers from this game will head there, and that it'll end up being a repeat of this style of game or EQ or something, neither of which are my thing at all. I like COH because it specifically caters to my playschedule and doesn't punish me for not being able to play 7 hours a day. I worry about games that have a lot of loot content to allow players to determine who's uber and who isn't. In COH, it doesn't really matter. In SWG, if you weren't a master whatever, you might as well forget participating.
I will have to check out COH SWG was my first online game (besides xbox live) I kinda have been going with the ups and downs of it for a long time. But after I sat and figured this................
If I bought a game from game stop for xbox and it didnt work I would take it back and get my money back. Not become thier employee working hours on end fixing what they screw up to turn around and find they listened to nothing I said. Not that I think each persons opinion means much but things like Bugs, Broken Attacks, and The constant lies are a bit too much. I think I will give a few other companies some money and see if it gets better. If not thats fine I have over 150xbox games to play like before. Not to mention my Rainbow 6 clain calls me daily for my return.
