That being said I sliced armour tonight that was 5600 base and the hinderance is only 1-3% which isnt even notacable during playing except for the 3 icons in my Buff area.

Its not the movement ones that are bothering me. The 4% hinderance on attack compared to the 1 & 2% on movement and accuracy does bother me. I have a toon whose total hinderance on fire is around 20% now from sliced armor (couldn't log on to verify immediatey - some huge download). This is a bit whacked to me.

Hmm my understanding was that hinderance took the highest amount not all of the hinderences put together so if your chest plate has a 7% hinderance to rate of fire and your legs have 3% you only have a 7% instead of a 10% hinderence to RoF.

I can't check this out as I can't play until the weekend is over but if someone could double check this that would be great.

Phat asked where it was announced that slicing high end armor will hinder it. It was in the Combat Upgrade preview here:

"Armor Slicing
We want to keep slicing a fun and effective advantage in the game. We will institute a method by which all armor can be sliced but lower end armors can get a higher slice percentage than higher end armors, In addition, remember that as a general rule of thumb, any time a protection is increased in any way, the corresponding hindrances will also rise by an equal amount. Slicing will remain an "illegal" activity. "

We WERE warned.

It was only ever stated in a general way that the hindrance would be increased. It was never stated that AS would be protected from going over the hindrance mitigation limit and that smugglers would not. I'm just suggesting that it is an oversight that smugglers do not have the same kind of protection against adding hindrance to master level armour so that slicing will only increase resist up to, but not higher than, the master level mitigation.

If slicing is meant to be ruinous to equipment, why are there not a similar drawbacks with slicing weapons? Armour mitigation is not properly tied to the field effectiveness of armour so its only function is to nerf armour slicing.
