Thread: Slicing armor adding hinderance????

So as a Master Smuggler/Pistoleer can i wear high protection armor with a nice slice and still not get hindered? I have -200% on all three hinderances???
Thanks
No the mitigation does not stack so your 200 is actually a measly 60 like a normal smuggler or pistolieer.
That being said I sliced armour tonight that was 5600 base and the hinderance is only 1-3% which isnt even notacable during playing except for the 3 icons in my Buff area.
Phat asked where it was announced that slicing high end armor will hinder it. It was in the Combat Upgrade preview here:

"Armor Slicing
We want to keep slicing a fun and effective advantage in the game. We will institute a method by which all armor can be sliced but lower end armors can get a higher slice percentage than higher end armors, In addition, remember that as a general rule of thumb, any time a protection is increased in any way, the corresponding hindrances will also rise by an equal amount. Slicing will remain an "illegal" activity. "
We WERE warned.

Its not the movement ones that are bothering me. The 4% hinderance on attack compared to the 1 & 2% on movement and accuracy does bother me. I have a toon whose total hinderance on fire is around 20% now from sliced armor (couldn't log on to verify immediatey - some huge download). This is a bit whacked to me.

Am I the only one that sees something a little Doug Adams-ish in this? We failed to read documentation in an area way far away from our lowly forum so its our fault?
Anyway, I can understand slicing adding hinderance to a point. It still chews my butt that the only armor that suffers is the best armor - which could be made superb with a decent slice. In short, it was fun working with an AS who created an excellent piece and getting that 90% base slice on armor. Now I'll be slicing crap and hoping to get close. Although if, as some have suggested in other threads, it is a stable slice amount (not random) both the AS and the smuggler know what they are paying for.

I read it a long time ago,I have no problem with it, first, slicing weapons after smuggler revamp is going to be much more involved, so fewer armor slices is fine by me.
Not to mention i never much liked having to be a slice monkey to make cash anyway. theres better ways to make a few bucks and after the sumggler revamp we will have even more ways.

I don't quite see why anyone couldn't reasonably assume that reading the CU Armor Overview documentation is a good place to find out about Armor slicing. Considering the CU docs are where the Devs stuck ALL the CU information they gave us.
PS: The Number one issue for smugglers should be that we don't smuggle. We are not slice-monkies.

Phat, I didn't meant to imply that it was our fault, or your fault or anything. You asked the question, I knew where the answer was and I posted it. The statement "We WERE warned" was just a general statement of fact. I'm sorry if you took it as a flame. If you didn't take it as a flame, I'm sorry I took it that you took it as a flame when you didn't and I didn't and you didn't and I didn't.....Nothing else to do while we wait for things to come back up....being SILLY is as good as anything else...
Nah, I didn't take it personal and I certainly didn't aim it at you. I was aiming it at SOE customer relations which seems to bury information in some of the damndest places. I should have used the laser knife instead of the flame thrower when tossing sarcasm around.
Since every profession was affected by the CURB, some being nerfed entirely (Thank god I'm not a Master Ent/Dancer/Musician), our complaints about this aspect of our profession are probably verging on whining. However, it happened to be a part of the profession I really enjoyed. I'm not certain I want to smuggle, or be hunted. I rather liked making spice, and for a brief, glorious, week and three days, spice was actually useful - something I expect to change with the publish 17 update since you can't stack spice on TC. I'm wandering far afeild from the heart of this thread, which was slicing armor.
I would like to be useful for all armor/weapons, not just crap. Put that in your smuggler revamp and smoke it.
