I'll go ahead and tell you that the online ones are more apt to listen then the print.

The thing to remember when talking/writing to the press with things like this is to back up your points so it's not just opinion. Things like links to the history thread, the role Smugglers/Underworld/GCW played in the story line, and the response from the community is what you need to have to make your point.

Most of the press has to play nice with these companies if they want to get exclusives, previews, and interviews in the future. So it's extremely important to have the ammo to show them it's a story worth pursuing. Keep that in mind.

Is this beer and pie some college dude, drunk, corny, stoned-out inside joke? I have never understood it but you see it everwhere

Organize an in game equivalent to the Blue Flu. This is when police officers call in sick. It's a form of striking. Get all the smugglers and sympathetic players to not log in on a particular day. Of course it can help if we join forces with other likewise ignored/broken professions, but it would certainly show the devs how many people support the revamp, without causing problems for we aren't hindering the game, but in a real way they can see how many people support the cause by looking at the, hopefully, larger drop in traffic.

This would be a non confrontational way to demonstrate our concern and the level of support our cause has that can't really be used against us. They can't very well ban us or cancel our account because we exercised our right to not play the game.

Then perhaps I should contact a few of them I know? Maybe we are talking to the wrong press if we aren't getting acknowledged. I am really just trying to help.

For heaven's sake, talk to ANYONE you think could possibly help! No need to ask if you should.

Thank you to any of you who are making efforts (yet again) to get the message to SOE and LA.

If everyone dropped smuggler (as I did last night), then the Devs might take notice. Might not care, but they might take notice.

Frankly, I'm tired of being a smuggler. I liked slicing components, I liked marketing spice. I hated having useless unarmed xp. But smuggler as it currently exists is rather boring. I'm looking for something to combine with smuggler, maybe comando. But just a couple months from my two year reward as a smuggler, I'm about done with it.

All three accounts canceled as of January 2006.

Since there's darn little we can do as smugglers as it is, why don't we organize a strike until the devs address the issues to our profession?

Get an agreement between as many smugglers as possible not to slice weapons, slice armor, make/sell/distribute spice, craft gaming tables/bubble tanks/shisa, etc. until we start to get some positive results from the devs. When someone contacts you regarding one of these services tell them "Sorry, the Smugglers Alliance has gone on strike until we start getting the much-promised and long-awaited fixes to our profession" or something to that effect. Everytime I hear someone talking about some nice new weapon they got the first thing they say is, "I need to get this baby sliced!" Let's see how they like it if they can't find someone to do it. Or at least have to spend several days trying to find a smuggler willing to cross the picket line...

I know we can't get 100% compliance with such a tactic, if nothing else there will be those who make a smuggler with an alt just so they can do their own or their guild's slicing. And there will no doubt be a few "true smugglers" willing to do it anyway and jack up their prices to take advantage of the situation. But even 75% or 80% compliance would make a big impact. It would get the point across to other players, so that instead of just us complaining to the devs it would be the bulk of the gaming community doing the talk.

I personally am already doing this. I'm only slicing for my very good friends in my guild.
