1. Everyone send their personal and well worded comments through PM to Wes, if he is willing. That way instead of summing up for us, he has exact quotes from every concerned smuggler out there. That then get sents to someone in charge, not a dev. If he needs an email for that (Which I doubt), I can provide him one. By going to someone in charge with a large amount of well worded and professional emails (Not smugglers suck, screw you SOE), they might take notice.

No reason to flood his inbox. That's what these boards are for.

2. Same approach, but someone with a real life contact at SOE takes it personally to their attention. I am willing to do such a thing if needed.

The AS Corr was fired for suggesting his players do this.

3. Everyone goes to launchpad chat at the same time and instead of a whinefest, we simply do our 'sit in strike' there and demand to talk with someone. They may just lock chat, but eventually, if enough of these are done, it will get attention, and doesn't involve us dropping smuggler etc, as ingame striking has never had a positive reaction

You can't even get accurate answers in Launchpad chat.

4. We collectively voice our opinion to LA, same as 1. but send it to the ones who make the decisions, like Julio Torres.

Julio "bookshelf" Torres doesn't care. He's responsible for the decisions that have brought you these answers.

I think this approach may work if it hasn't been done before because it is a positive, and shows that we did the work to try to come up with something constructive. It puts the onus on us and we accept it, then give it right back to them.

I have figured it out, why you're not angry. It's because you're clueless. You don't know what's gone on, who it is that is doing it, or what the outcome is.

You want to know the only thing that has made them reel folks? It's bad press. Write to the gaming magazines. Give them links to the threads here. Make their incompetence well known with this expansion coming. They're pushing for press right now, so let's give the magazines the real story about this game.

That line is unneeded. Her post was constructive though it mentioned ideas we've already thrown out. Either way, calling her clueless wasn't the right thing to do.

Actually it was. If she wants to be quick to judge others for being angry, then she should be ready for people to react.

NOTHING in what she says will accomplish a damn thing. You know how I know, and how others know, and why others are having a problem with her coming in here popping off? It's because we've been around and we know the score. What she said may have been positive, but it was pointless.

She has stirred up enough trouble around here that yes, I feel justified in calling her clueless. Because she is.

Thanks for your concern, but I happen to be right on this one.

You are right about me not knowing every thing that has been done on our behalf. I usually give up reading in the midst of negativity.

Now, if you dont' mind, I would like to critique your post. It reinforces what I see as prevalent here. It picks apart my suggestions, which is fine, calls me clueless, which is not, yet nowhere does it offer palpable solutions. Therefore, that makes you still part of the problem.

By not offering a solution to the problem, we are still stuck. Now you may have doneso in other threads which I haven't seen in my dronelike state, to which I point out again, probably lost in a sea of negativity.

So if you feel the need to insult me or anyone personally and that makes you feel bigger, so be it. It would probably make you look better if you just tried posting solutions instead of debasing others, flaming, and adding to the problem that already exists.

Thank you.

Been around? I have been around since before you even knew how to shoot a nuna more than likely, so tuck it back in your pants, nobody wants to see it.

I may not have been an active voice in our community. I have tried on numerous occassions only to end up meeting people like you.

I MAKE suggestions. I LEARN from what others post. I AM angry about the state of our profession. I am NOT willing to simply be blinded by rage and take that 'I am owed something' position.

Again, if you want to do so, feel free, but I will tell you this. Continuing to insult someone will not make you any more credible to anyone.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

You have proven my point. I stated what needed to be done. Contact gaming magazines. Link them to the posts here. You truly are clueless that you missed the largest portion of my post.

You came around here saying people shouldn't be angry. You tried to tell the majority of people here they were wrong, do you not think there would be a response? Did you think it would be forgotten? You have always tried to stir the pot on these boards. I'm just trying to point out the obvious, you have no clue what's going on.

Right now SOE/LA is looking for press because they've got an expansion coming out. So give the press the story that actually means something.

My work is done here. Thanks for making it so easy.

I haven't seen what she's posted before here. Frankly, after I don't know which outcry we smugglers had, I stopped frequenting these forums particularly because of the silliness I saw. Reminded me of the Starsider boards which I visited sometime around early last year.

It may have been pointless, as I said we've thrown around those ideas before, but I didn't see anything in this thread as her "popping off". Again, I don't know what she's done on these boards, but I think if she comes in with something constructive the least she deserves is a statement saying "it won't work because we've tried before."

If you can't do that much in the face of constructive comments then don't bother and I think I'm right on that one.

Um, you are welcome? As for contacting game magazines, guess what, it's been done before. IGN has run articles, theforce.net has run articles, so I guess you and I are both clueless suggesting things already done.

For the highlighted portion. I haven't told ANYONE they were wrong. Who am I to do so? What I pointed out was that I do not share their view or mentality and that it obviously hasn't helped our profession and suggested that perhaps we all try a new approach. The fact that others are seeing it, and we are getting into constructive posts now shows that maybe I am not a lone voice here.

So again, you are welcome for making it easy.

Now back on track. Maybe someone can tell me who actually has the final word on things. Do we know? Is it Julio Torres? Is it someone higher up? In my real life experience, if you aren't dealing with someone who has the authority to make decisions, you are wasting your time. So who is it we should be dealing with? (another clueless statement, I know)

If everyone dropped smuggler (as I did last night), then the Devs might take notice. Might not care, but they might take notice. Also, the ticket system is a very bad idea - even if there are real people on the other end (which I still hold that it's an autoresponder), flooding the ticket system will 'prohibit well-meaning players with legitimate issues from recieving the aid they need in a timely manner' and we'll all get our butts canned for it.

What are we? Chopped liver?

I think making it to Chopped Liver on SoE's "important things to take care of" list would be an accomplishment..

How about we take a large area of an unihabited planet, like Corellia, and have every smuggler put a house down spelling out Smugglers Want Content across the surface of the planet. That way when they look down from their clouds they can see the words!

Or....

Fill up the water coolers at SOE with psychotropic and hallucinogenic drugs. After the entire SOE has been given the day off find some half decent programmers to go in ninja style (Can't be commando style, doesn't work) and put in smuggler content. Can't take more than half an hour, but if it takes 5 hours, can probably make less bugs.

Or....

Take SOE employees, put them in a wicker man and sacrifice them to the Pagan Gods. No anger involved in any way and may improve your chances to get into paradise.

With smiles and happieeeenesssss

Actually, the bad press is the only thing that caused them to back off in the past. There's a reason treatment of the Smuggler community is in the 10 worst moments in MMOs.

To answer your questions:

1. Julio "Bookshelf" Torres = Producer type = Decision maker. He is the one making the decisions that have brought you these answers. He, judging by past statements, is completely out of touch with this community and the player base as a whole. In other words, he's LA's pawn and what we say doesn't matter.

2. The last person we had around here was talking the talk, but apparently they still won't walk the walk.

In the grand scheme the only person you can talk to that would fix this train wreck is the big man George himself. LA points at SOE and says they're screwing things up all the while LA is making the decisions on what goes in game. And the people at the top have no clue what's going on, and don't even get the messages that people like us send which means the only way to get their attention is to be vocal outside these avenues. The press. The only time they have ever responded with anything besides post deletions has been when they've gotten bad press.

Ok, so George or Julio. Thank you. Now for the next part, has anyone talked to either them in person or on the phone?

Let me say this again, from statements made by Julio, speaking with him will be no help.

As for George, if you look at the way LA has been going, he might as well sell it off like he did with Pixar.

We have had people talk tothe devsin person. One in particular was told that the only thing left to code for the smuggling system that was "In Development" a few months back was the dialogue for the missions. So either it was a complete lie, or they scrapped something that was more like smuggling than anything they're talking about right now.

This is the point I'm trying to make. The only people who have really listened to the community has been the press.

Then perhaps I should contact a few of them I know? Maybe we are talking to the wrong press if we aren't getting acknowledged. I am really just trying to help.
