Caylin,
Some great info, exciting and all. Glad your trip went well
Secondly, I feel assured you stuck to your guns and at least gave some of the devs an inclination of how fed up with the smuggler situation we are.
Finally, am sorry, but after being crapped on so many times by them, forgive me for feeling a little dubious and cynical when it comes to anything they claim will or wont be released. The important thing is you had your say, and that may make some difference in the long run. Thanks for the informative post also.

Glad you got to visit our great city, Caylin...
Unfortunately they took you to the "young techie" places and not to the BEST FOOD places. The Iron Cactus is definitely a "business person's" lunch area. Cool River is one of the places all the techies go after work on Friday. And the Salt Lick is on the complete far side of town from where most of your stuff was (my neck of the woods... I live South). There is better BBQ in town and there is better Tex Mex in town. Next summit, have them call me and I'll arrange to have them take you where the GOOD food is.
Living here, I have always been curious where there offices are... Do you remember the name of the buisness center, or the main intersection near their offices? Just curious... and don't worry.. no drive-bys... well, unless they delay that revamp again!

Caylin seems to be getting a little dose of what it's like to be a developer here. It's amazing how quickly people lose their sense of humor. I hope that everyone understands that the work Caylin does is voluntary and subtracts from the time he gets to play the game for fun.
It's frustrating to me that certain people choose to use terms like "liar" and "lies" to describe the developers because it personalizes a discussion that has nothing to do with ethics or the developers as human beings. Clearly SOE/LucasArts is making a big commitment to changing the game simply because they're willing to spend money on an event like the summit. It would be much easier and much less expensive for them to "lie" to us in another format. If delay tactics were their only goal I'm sure that they would release all sorts of information to keep you interested. Instead, they've solicited their customer's opinions in a very tangible and demonstrative way and they act on it. Changes have been made. SWG is s a different product now then it was at release. You may have a problem with the speed that these changes are being made but you can't deny the effort.
Many heated arguments have been made about past promises both real and perceived. I for one don't consider them "lies" weather they came to pass or not. The developers gave us the information they had at the time but some times the situation changes. There's nothing malicious about it. No one is "lying." Things change and when forum posters choose to accuse the developers of deceitful behavior it decreases the chance that the devs will release any information to us at all unless it's programmed and ready to drop into the live game.
The way I see it, the developers owe us nothing. We give them money, they give us entertainment. It's up to us as individuals to decide if we're getting a fair value for that money. If the game itself or the rate of change made me angry enough to call someone a liar then I would leave. There are too many other games to play. If you honestly believe someone lies then you shouldn't do business with them.

Way to go Caylin, you are the right man for this job. I'm looking forward to hearing what actually comes out of this Summit. I have a feeling that things will finally start turning around. Maybe not for Smugglers right away, but for the game in general. We'll have our day! Oh yes, we will!

Sounds like you had a great time, Caylin. Thanks once again for all your efforts. One thing, though...
I'm simply amazed that we cannot even get an answer on if we can get an answer!

Caylin can you at least tell us if in YOUR opinion it was legit or BS?

I personally see no reason for why I haven't been allowed to share this information with you. At this rate spice will change completely as part of the combat revamp before this gets answered.

Maybe that's their plan. That way they don't have to admit to anything. All this secrecy just makes us think the worst. Don't they know that?
Especially with the crap they pulled with the new FS stuff. Specifically I'm talking about making people wait for their chance to get into the Village based on how much hologrinding they did. I'm sure glad I decided to RP my character in a profession in this MMO-R-P-G for the past year+ instead of just grinding out professions. I'm a Smuggler and a Pistoleer, now this on top of it all. I'm just a glutton for punishment, I guess, though how was I supposed to know?
Oops. Sorry 'bout that off-topic rant there.

Does this mean that spices may be relatively useful, even, dare I say it, have a viable market, after the CR?

I don't have anything specific on Spice, but the general impression is that yes, spice will be more useful than it is today.

Wayne, SOE is around the 13000 block of Jollyville Road. The building is fairly nondescript and there was SOE signage when I went there. Note that one of the devs said they were moving/looking to move, so that may have changed in the past couple months.
