But doesn't this break the spirit of the game? There will be no point "playing" the games to get where you want to be. No feeling of accomplishing anything.
The same 'spirit of the game' mentioned in the EULA, never actually enforced by a single CSR and completely broken by the official endorsement of Jedi Fight Clubs?

Not my cup of tea at all, but thought I'd give a heads up about the new Station Exchange that allows people to sell/buy ingame stuff via SOE (just set up for EQ2 for now).
My biggest concern with SOEbay is this: I just looted the coolest, 1337est, uberest weapon ever. Then I put a damage slice on it and it RULES, dude! Why bother putting this on the trade forum? I don't need any more in-game credits... I'm putting it right up for sale for REAL MONEY! Better yet, it is sanctioned and encouraged by SOE!! If I work this right, I can sell enough in-game loot to pay for my account.
How is this a good thing? Personally, it is better for the honest player if people get ripped off buying crap on auctions.
Yeah I was thinking along the same lines. I can see a player putting the weapon on both the Exchange and on the trade forum. If he doesn't get his $XXX.XX fee for it, maybe he'll sell it on the trade forum for X,XXX,XXX credits and then sell the credits on the Exchange.
I can see that Exchange being an unholy mess of useless items for the short term - who knows though.
Cheers

As i posted in the focus thread on this... um... huh?
You want to cut down on back room transactions on ebay or ige or wherever else, but then you don't put in on existing servers? So you're 40% of CS calls are still going to be for ebayed jedi on bria or starsider or wherever and you've solved nothing.
I'm not the person who has ebayed anything -- either buy or sell side - I don't even have multiple accounts or lot trade. (although I do play TC often where everyone has 3 chars.. bu we're still all on the same level playing field) But if you're looking to solve some kind of problem and this is your route you gotta do it on all servers. Making a new server and where no one has anything and then putting this up doesn't do anything but add work.
I don't think this was meant to completely irradicate the problem, but rather alleviate it. If players that wish to do this are able to via a secure means, under SOE's rules and guidelines, you're likely to see a reduction in people going to ebay and other sites because of the convenience and lack of risk. Sure, people are still going to break the rules, but this will likely reduce their numbers (although admittedly, I'm somewhat dubious as to how significant that reduction will be).
I don't know if the fee charged for this allows them to break even or makes them something, but regardless, it's best to look at this as an additional service being offered, akin to the character transfer rather than an expansion etc. in the way that it's entirely optional and won't affect your gameplay if youdon't want to.
Perfectly understandable take. I'm just wondering why TPTB felt the need to spin it so far into the CS 'its hard work'/'its a huge expense' direction instead of the embrace and grow a service direction. That's all I'm saying.

Chalk another one up to primo communication from above I guess.
