Thread: PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING ANY SLICING QUESTIONS!!! :)
Quickie questions from those lucky enough not to be in the real world (students), night-shifters, and the unemployed, who rather than sitting in an office chomping at the bit to go home and test are trapsing about the servers merrily slicing till their keyboards break:
1) Please review my above 2 posts and confirm the data they are based on is accurate
2) If/when accurate, should I generate a seperatethread with this compiled datafor stikification, or would someone like to write up a difinitive slicing post 19 guide that utalizes this data? (Dreven, you back yet? you were always brilliant with the dummie guides!)

ThoughI can't find the original post, I think it was Red Dwarf who posted them originally, so thank him. And if it wasn't him, than thank whoever it was.
Type / Level / Loot Component Required / Boost% / Customization%
Speed/1/None/2/20
Speed/2/Simple Toolkit/4/25
Speed/3/Finely crafted Toolkit/7/25
Speed/4/Delicate Trigger Assembly(that's the one GM says is a DWB/Avatar drop)/12/30
Damage/1/None/2/20
Damage/2/Simple Toolkit/4/20
Damage/3/Illegal Core Booster/8/20
Crit chance/1/Simple Toolkit/3/20
Crit chance/2/Finely crafted toolkit/5/40
Crit chance/3/Delicate Trigger Assembly/10/40Now, who wants to do some math and figure out all the different combinations to maximize the customization point costs?
Curious... are your damage customization %s confirmed as correct??
If so, that leaves some decent room for a possible "forgotten" tier 4 damage slice costing 40% customization...

(this post assumes slices cannot exceed hard weapon caps, as stated elsewhere on this forum)
Example A: "I want the most damage" client:
Cap at D1: add (C2 + S1) OR (S3) OR (S2 + C1)
Cap at D2: add (S2) OR (C2)
Cap at D3: add (S1 + C1)
Example B: "I want the fastest speed" client:
Cap at S1: add (D3 + C1) OR (C2 + D1)
Cap at S2: add (D2) OR (D1 + C1)
Cap at S3: add (D1) OR (C1)
Cap at S4: add... nothing, yer done!
Example C: "I want the best chance at a critical!"
No caps, duh!

And the point is, NOBODY is going to pay for tier4 damage slice on a gun that caps at or above tier 4...
ANYWAY, I have a couple rather important questions for someone who'd be willing to test:
1. What are the CURRENT customization numbers for the slice levels? I've seen the high end slices being reported at 100%, where as a couple people have mentioned stuff like 40%. This would be very important to have clarified now that this is live for those of us who don't like plowing through 2000 word posts to get a simple bit of information before we head off to pay our smugglers.
2. Has anyone tried stacking same effect slices? Under the list that has high tier slices as 100% customization, if this could happen then, for instance, for critical chance slices the best possible slice would be 5x level 1 slices, since it offers a 3% upgrade at a 20% customization cost, thus a 15% upgrade at 100% for multiple slices instead of 10% and a potentially expensive loot item for a single slice

Edit: and btw, yes I did read (or, well, skimmed through after about half way

Damnit! That's a good post...

You not only posted to an existing message on the boards. But one you "should" read, and as well one that has had some occupancy, meaning a likely Master Smuggler haunt. On the boards you deserve to get as good as you give... As such you deserve what you gave: an articulate, non-demanding post, with the added compliment of constructive criticism, so as to allow us Mast Smugs to better assist the floods this Board has received. So without further delay... here we go.
1) There are 2 different percentages that are listed and measured for every slice, I believe this may have added to some of the confusion during your skim, and as well pertains to both your questions. The 1st percent is the customization rating. Each weapon at production has a 0% customization rating, but for each slice to it, it increases by an average of 20-30% maxing out at 100%. For example a Level 1 speed slice modifies speed by 2%, but carries a 20% customization rating. Additionally, a Level 2 Speed adds another 25% customization, bringing the total to 45% customized (yet only decreases the speed by 2% more). Now the ranges vary for customization per slice from 15%-50% but are listed on the slicing tables. (A link is listed at the end of this reply)
2) Unfortunately the ability of stacking same effect slices or levels is not possible. Each slicing level is actually titled when a smuggler applies it. When a smuggler slices for speed, his first level modification is "Reducing Barrel Weight". Once a barrel is lightened, it cannot be re-lightened. So your gun, now sporting an aluminum barrel (or Balsa wood) can still be sped up, but it the next slice must be a different slice. So, the progression in levels is necessary to seek more speed, likewise for the damage slices (or critical strikes etc...)
That said, here's more food if my cooking is not up to par... thanks again for your manners and eloquence.

I however speak it pretty fluently (sorry i don't speak clickty)

DPS is irrevelevent nonsense, don't pay attention to it.

Is that why a lvl 4slice component that adds a max12% speed bonus affecting DPS has been sold for 1 million credits and I have another interested party for the same component willing to pay the exact same price?
