First off, forgive my fellow smugglers if we're a little harsh
If I was a little harsh, I fell well short of my goal. This is a very helpful and supportive community. In this case, however, the poster got what he deserved. Why?
- Lazy. wasn't interested in reading the stickies.
- Is looking for help in cheating smugglers out of slicing money be respecing, slicing his own gear, and then going back to another profession. I feel no obligation to help someone rip me and fellow smugglers off.
- didn't even have the guts to use his real forum ID. Brainless-Boy created this ID yesterday so he could ask us for help ripping us off without anyone recognizing the scum for what he is.
I'm actually disappointed that anyone explained to this punk how to slice.
1) He has three posts... Look at his registration date. Some way to make someone who hardly posts on the forum feel welcomed.
I too was unaware of stickies and the search function when I was new to the forums as I am sure most everyone was. No one becomes a forum user for the first time understanding the value of stickies or what they even are.
2) Smugglers are rare... Those who are around usually don't want to help, like some on this forum... And other smugglers like to cheat others buy charging outrageous prices. Can you blame him?
3) And you know this how? If it is true it's shameful that people like you cause a person to feel they must mask their identity in order to ask a simple question.
Wow guys, be nice.
Not checking the faq, thats a mistake thatI'd agree with. But...
I mastered smuggler right before the cu. Was it terribly difficult? Not really, and I'm a crafter who got smuggler for slicing and for fun. The pistol xp was obviously the most time consuming part. Obviously respecing is easier than grinding, but the slicing and spicing trees only take about an evening each.
Be proud of your profession, it's fairly unique and fun to roleplay! And remember that being kind to noobs is what will make you famous across the galaxy...
I knew this respec was NOT a good idea...
Players using respec to temporarly take a profession just to avoid interacting with another player. Can this really be GOOD for the game?
Added: I have NO problems with players using the respec to change to a different template due to SOE screwing them over. I DO have a problem with SOE even allowing a respec...IMO it was a VERY bad idea on top of a rather poorly executed CU.
I also have a problem with someone using the respec for OTHER than what it was SO obviously intended. If you don't 'get' that then I can't really help you understand I'm afraid.

The only thing I can hope for at this point is that the end the respec before slicing gets fixed. If there was any such thing as karma, these idiots respecing to rip us off would get horribly borked slices ruining their very expensive, custom weapons.
I must admit that I used the respec to become a smuggler. I in fact had a house full of locked containers to slice, and had my novice box in Smuggler. When I heard about the respec I put off my switch until then. I respec'ed to Smuggler the day of the CU. My other skill boxes have moved around until I came up with something I am happy with, by which I mean fits my play style, but Smuggler is a constant. Do I know everything about being a smuggler? No. Do I have all the basics down? No, and I would have been better at it if I worked my way up.
But I am a Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/Commando 4400/Freelance Ace. I am about to flip my alliegance to the Empire so I can get the Jedi Fighter, and then will flip back again once I do.If I can exploit the system to achieve my goals, then I will. What could be more Smuggler than that? Its a Pirates life for me.
And apologies in advance for my forthcoming id10t questions. I am sure I will have some
