Thread: Price Check for the new smugglers slice tools

I'm doing this (for now):
ARMOR --Single Lvl 1 slice: 10KDouble Lvl 1 slice: 15KTriple Lvl 1 slice: 20KQuad Lvl 1 slice: 25KSingle Lvl2 slice (and up): client provides tools w/ 10K surcharge for my services per lvl, otherwise price of each tool is twice what it cost me to acquireWEAPONS --Single Lvl 1 slice (no-kit): 10KDouble Lvl 1 slice (no-kit): 15KSingle Lvl 2 slice: 40KDouble Lvl 2 slice: 60KSingle Lvl 3 slice (and up): client provides tools...10K surcharge for my services per lvl...otherwise price of each tool is twice what it cost me to acquire
I kinda like this. In fairness, it puts a good price on our skills and services for the lower end slices, and then it also takes into account the difficulty of getting the higher level pieces.
I noticed as well the addition in another post of:
CLIENT PROVIDES ALL TOOLS --
LVL 1slice: 10K
LVL 2 slice: 20K
LVL 3 slice: 30K
LVL 4 slice: 40K
I'm quite happy that my time for a slice not providing tools be rated at this, and I'll happily defend my corner against people who complain that it's too much even if they bring the tools.
Not that I'll be advertising my slicing skills really - I'd rather see how I go slicing for myself for a while until things settle, but at least this gives me a good place to start.
I'll have to start campaigning to up the character limit of bios now to include all the new slicing info
Maybe some sort of standard email ready to send would be in order...

All I hear in this thread is tradeforum this trade forum that. And Angus up there saying that a drop from a krayt and NS elder going for 100-200k is way to much. I'm sorry but in the 20 or so kills last night of Krayts, we got 2 mandalorian pieces. Two.
The pieces on my server are selling for 200-500k. I tell people that 100-200k is a good price if they would like to see slicing stay under 1m for tier 3/4. If they want to pay 1m for a slice then let them.
Here, I'll qualify my post just a little bit more....
Anyone who pays that much for this stuff is a moron.
But if there are that many morons out there, I might as well get rich off them. I'll start selling the ones that I loot and don't use for myself.
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
All I can think about is how much slicing a suit of armor is going to cost when the components are selling for this much, and I sit and shake my head. Who in their right mind would pay 4 times more than the armor is worth for slices that aren't that uber to begin with? Rich morons. Probably the morons who are getting rich from selling this inflated crap to stupid Smugglers who'll pay that kind of price.
Bah.. don't mind me. I think I'll go back in-game and farm some Krayts and get mega-rich.

Smugglers that want to slice for money will just need to see what people are paying for these items and charge accordingly. They will need to get their own tools or put some time into finding farmers who will discount bulk sales. I wouldn't be getting all up in arms about the evil campers because its the evil campers selling in bulk that can actually drive prices down. No matter how much idealistic rhetoric you can spout about everything should cost nothing, if there’s people willing to pay a price for something there will be people willing get it and sell it to them.
If individuals will pay 200k for an individual component that’s what they will pay as long as there isn't a enough supply to meet the demand at that price. If it's only “good honest” people going out and getting tools one at a time it will most always be auctioned one at a time, stay rare and expensive. It’s people that go out and get them 20 or 30 at time and sell at price that allows both the hunter and smuggler to make a good profit that’s what will drive prices down. An efficient system like that increases supply, which lowers demand, which over time will lower the price people are willing to pay.
And as for making or looting, I think looting makes a lot more sense. Han didn’t know how to make the falcon or all the high end parts in it. He knew how to hook them all up in a way to make them better.
Smugglers, we don’t make the products you buy, we make the products you buy better.

"I'm in it for the money", right?
Yep. Like I said... it's not the people who are selling these for outrageous prices who are the idiots. It's the people buying them for those prices who are.
I'm all for fleecing the idiots.
Considering I'll never have any spare to use for paying customers, the only real issue with pricing I have is what to charge people for lower end slices and what to charge for a slice where they provide their own component.
If they want to pay several hundred K for a component, great for them. They'll still have to pay me around 10K for every level of slice I perform, plus an as yet undetermined amount for the lower end components.
I'll still be making more cash than I was before this on slicing, so I'll be set for pie and beer
