Since a common template for Smuggler has always been Smuggler/Pistoleer. Dont you think its a bad idea to have both professions under the same armor cert? What the hell is my smuggler / pistoleer gonna do with his 2 sets or RIS armor? Are they gonna become display pieces for my house? This is unacceptable. I have put alot of time and money into making RIS for my Smuggler so he would be unique and give me a sense of roleplaying , now the armor can't be used by him? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME ! Please think about making the Mando and RIS useable by all classes, just like the KSE Firespray for any master pilot.

You CAN use them. You just don't get encumberance reduction. A Smuggler/Pistoleer can still wear the heavy stuff if he/she likes but has to worry about more heavy penalitys, like slower moving, crappy accuracy, etc.

I don't see any CERTIFICATIONS but BONUSES for wearing certain armours in professions.

Actually, you can't. You can't even equip a set of 'uncerted' armor until you get the first box of 'mitigations' in the profession certed for it - this counts as the 'cert'. Confirmed by a dev in one of those armor-related threads.

And even if you could, the whole concept of someone wearing a single piece of armor getting the whole set of 'debuffs' as a person who's wearing a full suit of it and looks like a walking tank is simply laughable.

EDIT: Here's the link.

I'm really concerned about the underlying system they, as it seems, adapted to fit a Star Wars game - I mean... look at the Scout Trooper armor (as you've said - you're a ranger and can't wear it). Shouldn't a Scout Trooper actually be a... (gasp!) Master Scout (with weapons training)?

By making novice professions completely unable to wear armor to fit their pseudoleveling system and the 'newbie experience', they are doing more harm than good. This is not what the game was supposed to be based on.

As a smuggler/pistoleer in the new system I have lost the ablity to use my Comp, my RIS (which I just had made) and My Padded (which was my "street" armor). I can no longer be a triple master and now have to re-think every aspect of my play style and Toon's RP style. I like the new system (aside from the bugs) combat wise but Im not all that thrilled about the armor changes, I understandwhy its being donebut Im not happy about it.

Ok so say I pick up nov. fencer for the armor cert (It's not my combat style I dont want to use a sword in SWG). Wont I still have penalties when using a blaster?

Yes, you will.

Unless you, of course, master Fencer, which can only be described as a horrible skillpoint sink for anyone who actually wants to RP his character, not play his template.

There is a statement (I think in the armor revamp documents ) that TKs will be getting armor similar to Jedi armor and that is why the TKs are not listed as having a specific armor type.

The CU documents also mention that RIS armor has some newly added items. it will still be in game.

Armour Certs aren't weapon specific. Oh, and a vibro knife can be very stylish.

This Armor Certification is a complete disaster. I was ok on the other changes, but once i saw this armor certs by profession, i just about lost it. I don't understand how you can take away RIS armor from someone that either paid alot for it or spent alot of time getting the resources to put it together. I said it before and i'll say it again, old armors should have no certs. You want to give certs to a type of armor, give it the factional requirement or just add certs to new armor. This way no one gets screwed. You just can't take away a players armor he's been using for over a year. Its not right nor justified in anyway.

OLD ARMOR WE KEEP THE SAME / NEW ARMOR YOU HAVE TO HAVE CERTS.

How brainless do you have to be to not see this is the right course of action.
