yeah spinningcloud. i'm all for some harsh and REAL penalties for carrying illegal goods from place to place.

scans are indeed a joke.

Smugglers need to be needed by other players to get illegal goods around the galaxy. that will be real player made content, like the original game design was supposed to be.

"Also, i think the whole point of a card game is that it is a game of change. I don't think I like the idea of having a "stacked" Magic The Gathering type deck (your -6 bonus cards that you mentioned)"

Special cards are a part of Pazaak so you can't not have Pazaak and not have the special cards. The EU also hints that there are exceptionaly rare "official" cards for Sabacc too that are excepted in games. This just allows the more experienced card players to have an edge over someone just coming onto the scene. Its still heavily about a chance.. even with the best rarest cards in Pazaak it was still similar odds that you'd lose.. it just helps you to pull off good come-backs

As for gaining money from NPCs... my main intentions with that was adding a few card game quest NPCs around cantina's that would yield special cards and could only be played and beaten once (you only complete the quest when you beat the NPC at a game) so you wouldn't be able to constnatly play the NPC to farm credits. However, if NPCs were added that were just there to play when no one else was around (and therefore not quest-based) then the simple solution would be that they either don't play you for money or they have a capped maximum pot of a small some of money like 5k or 1k or something ... and ofcourse its still 50/50 on if you'll even win.

Hoshi; "Smuggling is about beating the odds, breaking the law, being a scoundrel, getting one up on local authorities, being a deviant etc etc its not just "smuggling"."

And crafting card decks gives us any of this how?

I'm actually amazed to find someone that doesn't think actually smuggling should be the MAJOR part of being a Smuggler. But I suppose in THIS game, with no legal consequences and no real contraband, smuggling IS all about only being a transport pilot. But then crafting card decks and building casinos is only about being a crafter...not about being any kind of "deviant".

I, for the life of me, don't understand why you think crafting card decks, maybe having our gaming tables become functional, and even being an architect of casino-type buildings will make us "scoundrels" and at odds with "local authorities". Nothing we do right now makes us any of that.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Will you PLEASE drop this "crafting cards" rubbish. Its got nothing to do with making damn cards, its about ACTUALLY BEING ABLE TO PLAY WITH THEM. Who makes them is completly irrelevant and has no basis for an argument but I can tell you know, if Sabacc was added and artisans craft the card decks there will be a LOT of smugglers angry because they'll feel its something people should see a smuggler to get hold off.

Can you imagine Han Solo going to a local store and buying a Sabacc deck considerng Sabacc is an illegal game? No. He will likely have gained it through someone on one of his many smuggling expeditions ... in other words, would likely have gained his first Sabacc deck from a smuggler.

I have continously said in this thread that smuggling is obviously the most important part of being a "smuggler" but what I have continuously said is that it isn'y the ONLY part. And again, ignore who makes the cards and who places a building, that is completly irrelevant. The important part is that its a smuggler that hands out the decks/plays cards and a smuggler that owns a casino.

I, for the life of me, can't see why YOU can't get passed the whole "crafting a card deck" point. For the millionth time, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHO MAKES THE FRICKING CARDS its about being able to GAMBLE witha CARD GAME. That is one such illegal activitythat adds the deviant side and gets us in trouble with local authorities and as for "nothing we do right now makes us any of that" ... yes, precisely. Thats why we want things like Sabacc added.

Now, in the hopes that I don't have to repeat myself again, get passed crafting cards. The cards have to make their way into this game somehow and if by doing so it gives a player in this game a reason to seak me out instead of a stupid slice request then good.
