What, did they use a magic 8-ball to come up with those answers? What a disappointment.

I'm sorry, San, but unless you have some seriously good news that they're telling you to keep from us, I just don't buy the whole "they have stuff planned but they don't want to tell us what it is" line. Just take a look at the Creature Handler changes. As soon as they identified what they wanted to do with that class, they put up a big huge post about exactly what they were going to do. And they did it. The fact that they're not telling us anything means that they really haven't decided what to do. They may have some ideas, but right now they're completely clueless as to what they can do to fix us up.

My subscription runs out January 4th. Hopefully the next big patch will be on TC by then, and I'll see some good stuff coming to Smugglers. If not, I'm just not going to renew. Pretty much the only thing they've done for us since day 1 is to fix things that they broke along the way. Getting Slicing 2 and 4 fixed took a whole month. Getting panic shot working again took a while. And how long did we complain about the spice incap bug before it was fixed? And these should have been relatively easy fixes to take care of. And in all this time they still haven't come up with any content for us at all.

Again, I'm thoroughly disappointed by the responses we've gotten, and if we don't get some good news soon, I will just let my account lapse. I don't consider "we'll see what we can do" good news, when they've been working on these responses since...October? Maybe November? Well over a month they've had to put them together. And this is the best they can do. And they have a slew of other professions to look at, and some of those have much more specific answers. I just don't see anything worthwhile coming our way until March or April. I just can't see spending 3 or 4 more months doing nothing but slicing and spicing.

Thanks San,

Folks the only thing i see wrong with these responces, are that they are old.

These WERE the top5, now we are more worried about other things, and we could of consolidated them a bit as well.

Maybe they can get the corrospondant system running a bit more timely now. I sure hope so. If not they need to go to school over at DAoC.

I hope to come back from the holiday with fresh ideas, and a better outlook. THe Game is FUN. The forums are beating me down of late. Been on SWG disscussion too much....

Happy holidays everyone, thanks SanTsu.

Be safe.

Speaking of the expansion pack...when is it coming out...and can't alot of our woes including improved slicing and spice and combat be fixed in patches...I could understand reworking underworld to require smuggling to be a huge in expansion or in one of the big week long patches like vehicles and mounts...

I canceled the game and deleted my smuggler in September because it was well horrible. I had had the game for over a month adn was just frustrated. It has some improvement...however I'm not just a smuggler I dabble in artisan and medic and scout because smuggler is not as fulfilling...

Thanx San for all your work & I really don't blame you at all. But these answers from the Devs are no different than they were months ago. I've been a Smuggler since Beta & I'm rapidly losing faith now. That short list of answers are depressing. I have to agree with Shadis. It doesn't appear that they really have a plan for Smugglers or they would've posted some plans & ideas like they did for Creature handlers, Rangers, Commandos & TKAs when they they started making the plans for the major changes for those professions. They gave the players hope that played them. Right now I'm rapidly losing hope as a smuggler with a half broken profession & skills that don't work quite right. And I'm very upset with the recent changes to Feign Death.

I don't think they'll have many smugglers left by spring if that's when they plan on putting thru their big changes. Such a shame to ignore a profession that has so much potential.

One could think that until now approxematly zero Developers used any of their time to think of smuggler related problems.
But i'm sure glad to hear that we'll maybe get something perhaps useful and interesting in the not so near future.

San,

I know you've been looking out for us and trying to make our voices heard. Please make it clear to the devs that we're VERY unhappy with this response. What it essentially boils down to is "Stay tuned. We'll let you know." Which is exactly what we've been getting all along. If THIS is what it took Thunderheart so bloody long to do then I'm beginning to lose faith in him as well. I mean, come on. What kind of a reaction from us do they expect? You can play cheerleader all you like, tell us that "No really, good things are coming" but we have absolutely no information about WHAT good things, WHEN they're coming, or whether we're even a dev priority anymore, despite what JustG posted.

When JustG posted his response, I really expected that we'd get some kind of concerted effort from the devs and some real attempts to work with us as a part of the community. Now it seems that they just don't really care. They can't take the time to explain what they're planning, they don't even LET you tell us, what the hell is the point of having correspondents if this is all the info we get?

SOE needs to understand that communication is a two way street, and this is NOT communication. This is sucking info from a group and keeping them in the dark. And frankly, when I see yet another "Just stay tuned" response, it really makes me wonder where this game is headed and if things will EVER get better or if they'll just keep dangling that carrot in front of our noses.

But please, make it clear that we're unhappy, that we expect more, that we were TOLD we'd get more, and that what we've gotten is unacceptable as a response.

Both San and I agree that you guys need more of an answer and here it is. The smuggler isn't going to be just "fixed". Its in re-development. Smuggler is an important profession and needs more than a little attention.

Here is what I need from you folks. Since Smuggler is "In Development", I hope you folks can work together to put together some reasonable ideas togetherfor the types of directions you would like to see the Smuggler profession change/develop. Thats why San is posting a lot of broad questions.

Then San and I want to collect the very best of your ideas and San will email them to me. I've set up a special email box for this type of correspondence. From there, I will take that information to the producers so that your desires and ideas can be accounted for when the development process moves to the next stage.

The best recommendation I can make is to keep your ideas realistic. Come up with ideas using the system as you know it as opposed to inventing things from a "blue sky" approach.

I very much look forward to seeing your input.

Actually, I want to know what you WANT so we can include it in the planning - - we want the community involved. The problem here is now that I've said this, I need the help of the community to understand that this is not going to happen over night. Work on your ideas, get your ideas to me and then I can get it into the development process. To do that, San and I work closely and I've set up an email account for the correspondents to pipe this information in to me directly to save time and effort.

Thunderheart, this is slightly more encouraging (if not a few months too late), but in order to have a proper perspective on things, please tell us the following:

  • How was the Smuggler as it is today conceived? What is it supposed to be? A mix of crafting and combat? A jack of all trades? A keystone in a group? A soloist?

  • Will there be any other Factions added? Are Smugglers supposed to be PVP oriented or are they supposed to be Neutral in appearance while working both sides?

  • What direction are the Devs already considering for Smuggler? Do they want another combat profession? Crafting? Buffing? Something entirely new? Have vehicles been part of the plan?

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that we don't know what Smugglers are supposed to be right now. Knowing where we are now will help us know where we can go in the future, and will give our current abilities (or lack thereof) in some context for conceiving a new profession. Please get the Dev in charge of Smuggler in here so s/he can tell us who we're supposed to be.

I have been a smuggler since 3 days... or was that weeks... hehe anyways I got the acursed unarmed grind over with, and I havent put my pistol down since. Much fun. I dont usually post here but I have read alot of what has been going on. Here are my thoughts on why there hasnt been much change to smugglers since the beggining.

Remember when we could spam panic shot! tee hee. (of course then think back to the time the devs broke it... /sigh)

ok ok

A "hybrid" class. meaning crafter/combat?

-if so why are the two pre-requisites in combat trees. (if that issue came up before excuse my ingnorance)

Pistol Mods for Dirty fighting.

-Dirty fighting is the dabblers delight. forget it I say. If the devs were interested in giving a pistol mod to the master smuggler box I see logic in it. 1) because of Last Ditch, I was a master smuggler/artisan for a while, needless to say I missed a few times using it in a row, which is catastrophic when you dont have much pistol speed. a little accuracy and speed (10/5?) couldnt hurt someone who had to grind almost 2 MILLION PISTOL EXPERIENCE (cough) to get master smuggler.

-Spice is fine the way it is

if the devs want to give us experimentation back, thats fine. Though this falls under what I suppose is a tall order.

-Smuggler content

it would radically change the way the game is played I am up for it. SWG needs to take a chance and make this profession a unique character in the MMO world. I have watched the movies and so far, the Evil Empire has just not shown a presence in this game. Where is the oppression? Where is the Tyranny? I should have been jailed several times for espionage, counterfeiting and possesion with intent to distribute

once again a tall order. I think most of us are waiting for the expansion pack. I am praying this will make a smuggler truly a fun and unique class.
