This is exactly why we will NEVER have players requiring the servies of Smugglers.
This game is being dumbed down to the extent of becoming yet another cheap, disposablevideo game for the lazy MTV generation, rather than an immersivevirtual world, and I lament for what is being lost

The problem is that most of the playerbase doesn't have and never will have any desire to do anything they don't need to do.

Wow! That is messed up. Poor, f*cking entertainers. I wonder what will keep people coming to the cantinas.
I've been stood in a cantina now for 24 hours on believe that there would be punch and pie, where is my punch and pie?

Wow...poor entertainers.
The Devs really have no idea what they are doing, do they? I mean, I've known this for a while. Just...stating the obvious.
While I agree with adding things to entertainers to actually make them entertaining, I don't think that should cause them to lose usefullness. Always add content and player interaction in a massively multiplayer game...never remove it.
You bring up some interesting points that I doubt the Devs have thought of.
If - as you so bluntly put it - Entertainers lose usefulness, I wonder how many accounts SOE will lose as a result. I don't know anyone that has *just* an Entertainer and that's all they play. They have at least 1 Alt account that is combat-capable.
The CU makes interaction rewarding - i.e. hunting in a group for faster XP gains. In this one move SOE is removing the need for interaction, and giving players yet *another* reason not to visit NPC cities.
I'm sure if you're sitting around a table brainstorming, the idea of players having the *ability* to put on plays with props sounds great. Unfortunately when reality kicks in, the stark truth is that if I don't need to do something, I'm not going to do it. If I'm not going to get rewarded with XP or something else for watching a "play", then you can find me grinding XP to finish FS or something else.
I am amazed (although I probably shouldn't be) at how incredibly short-sighted this idea is.
