Good luck with it Arsani. I hope you can make it work and not fall down the path that this particular guild has a history of following. It would be nice to see a good smuggling/crime guild that interacts with the other RP guilds and maintains it's identity, though I think it will be an uphill battle simply because so many people will consider the group's history when dealing with you as opposed to a fresh start with something new.
Gawd, don't I know it. The whole time they were taking over I was telling them that it'd be easier to just start over, but they were determined. They want the name recognition. But the new leader actually listens to people, and he's already making up the list of people he needs to apologize to over the past actions. But come on Jaim, why don't you join as my shipwright employee? You know you want to be under me.
Now tempting as that offer may be 'Sani...
Unfortunately I cannot, as I have too much bad history with that guild, directly and indirectly. In addition to that, that name stirs up too many memories of things they have done in the past that were over the line and I can't have that hanging over my head... figuratively and literally. Still wish you good luck with it, even if I think it is like trying to clean out the cesspit to make a swimming pool. (reputation wise)
Damn, guys!
What the f**k guild am I trying to join here? What did they do to get such a rep?
Nevermind...I think its awesome to be the underdog. I love it when people assume because you belong to (x) you are (y) 'cause then they are shocked as hell when I do the opposite. So I like that this crime guild has a bad reputation. It's fitting I think.
I'm still thinking about goals- Things to do.
I once proposed this idea of Smuggling routes using factories and harvestors- where BHs would be hired to prevent you from taking something from point A to point B but that's kind of "event"-y. We need something that is on going where the score means something.
For example if guild A was able to put (x) amount of items on guild B's vendor they would have to buy them. It would be guild A's responsibility to keep guild B from smuggling stuff in.
Something like that. What do these other guilds do?
I love to RP but if there are no goals- goals that mean something- then I might as well just play the GCW.
You know what I'm saying?
Thanks Arsani, but I'm afraid they are not completely thought out and are going to be hard to implement without a great deal of co-operation from the other guid(s).
Also- there has to be integrity on both sides as it would be very easy to cheat with an alt and get something on the vendor.
Soooo, it all has to be thought out. And I will figure something--
The mechanics are there- but it would be great to set up something that regular players could participate in without even knowing it.
Territoriesare a great idea- but how do you enforce them 24-7?
If the guild was Rebel or Imperial we would have more game mechanics at our disposal but who wants to have a crime guild that isn't flexible.
OHHHHHHHHHHHH!
What if there was a guild that was NOT a crime guild. What if there was a LAW ENFORCEMENT guild!
If they incapped you- you would have to hand over (x) amount of spice or that would be a strike against your guild.
Proof could be handled with screenies and posted on a web site.
I'm on to something, here....
They make an Imperial Law Enforcement guild, with lots of Stormtroopers and problems arise when they assume that they have the massive might of the Empire at their beckon call and expect everyone to treat them that way as well.
They make an Imperial Law Enforcement guild, and behave in everyway possible contrary to what an established regimented unit would.
The Law Enforcers believe that on account of their status they have free reign to harrass people.
The criminals all suddenly become too smart/tough/fast/etc and even if they are arrested (usually requiring a large PvP fight since no ever respects the law at all, even if surrounded/outnumbered) they or their friends simply free them from custody/jail regardless of the situation, usually within minutes of the arrest.
The law enforcers act more like thugs/criminals which kills the point of having an actual law enforcement guild.
Power trips. Happens EVERY time.
The law enforcement decides to make themselves responsible for patrolling an area that by all rights should have minimal police presence (*cough* Mos Eisley *cough*) to try to "force" interaction.
After a while either the criminals (and bystanders) get fed up with the Heavy Handed/We Should Win nature of the law enforcers (most often when they are Stormtroopers) and just stop interacting with them.
Or after a while the Law Enforcers get tired of basically wasting their time as most of the criminals have the "I am the Super Secret Leader of the Super Secret Syndicate you don't know who I am" or "well my friends got a distress signal from me when I was in jail... even though I have been strip searched... and now my whole guild is going to converge upon the Jail from all over the galaxy within 10 minutes" attitudes, and they just give it up.
Would be great to see an actual Law Enforcement guild established, whether CORSEC or RSF or Imperial(NOT STORMTROOPERS think more like FBI not the Marine Corps) or even an INTERPOL like organization that investigates Organized Crime, so that you have police trying to track down and stop major crimes... not pissing people off by harrassing people in the cantina for their IDs.
hmm... kinda fun being young again. been a loooong time since thugs in the street could kick me around.
The whole galaxy seems a bit more hostile than i remember...
On the lighter side i am one box away from Master Artisan ! ![]()
