As far as missing the candidacy, I figured all the regulars saw SanTsu's post, "My heart felt thanks to all smugglers. It is time for me to retire as correspondent. " I did recieve a lot of candidate letters...
That's great, Thunderheart, but according to my Outbox, the PM I sent you recommending a few people is still unread.
Good to know I could help...
Congrats Lodekdall!
I wish you the best ofluck as the new smuggler correspondent.

Nothing against Lodekdall or anything,
I just wish the official announcement so some of us could send in our already made applications in would have been nice.
Congrats and all Lodekdall. Nothing against you at all.
But I have to agree.
Thunderheart, How can you even appear to have any semblance of a fair selection process for correspondent when you never posted the fact that you were taking applications?
Gee, maybe he was expecting a new coorespondent to pay attention to the boards and take the initiative when things happen. Not be specifically asked to do something.
If they did make unofficial assistants to the Smuggler correspondent, I wouldrecommend DrevenStrobe as the Underworld correspondent. I have enjoyed reading his faction selling guide very much, and I have recommended it as a must-read to all smugglers that I train on Intrepid.

Welcome, Lodek!
I'm still busy reading through some of your recent posts, but this one sticks out, and I think it's a good idea:

Another thing ... related to the new smuggler correspondent. As the correspondent is essentially our voice to the developers, I think it'd take a lot of heat off of the new guy if the new guy appoints a series of assistant correspondents. They'd be unofficial in SOE's eyes, but it would help break up the work of the correspondent. Perhaps have an assistant correspondent responsible for a given skill tree? Have DF Assistant, Underworld Assistant, Slicing Assistant and Spice Assistant.
Just a thought ... it would help to break up the problems and be able to focus on tree-specific issues, rather than just all-in-one posts on the correspondent forum that might get lost in the shuffle.
Here's to creating a bureaucracy ... um ... sort of.

I worked as an unofficial assistant to another correspondent, and I think it's a great idea, especially for "big picture" posts like a "state of the profession" or a compiled "top ten questions." The proofreading help alone is invaluable, and getting a few people to poke holes in your arguments in advance will help you reinforce them and save you trouble in the long run.
Anyway, welcome, Lodek!
You want freaking initiative, you better go check some of the ideas others have posted, the work that has been done, for all freaking smugglers. The FAQ's the Unofficial State of the profession. No one 'asked' for us to do that, yet we did.
What they expected though, was to go through the lines of communication to get a chance at this position.
Congratulations on 2 fronts..
1. For making correspondent
2. For actually getting a 'red name' to even come near our forums ![]()
LOL true enough.
