I remember as a noob.....master of nada doing delivery runs out of Anchorhead to Wayfar..........on foot.
Before bikes, mounts and player shuttles were available
That was a long dang run.....and back....no houses out there, no people...just tons of dews and tuskens.

I remember when I actually felt like a Smuggler, not through any game mechanic, just because I stood around slicing and chatting in starports, and had lots of aquaintances and friends [this is in Coronet, the hub of the galaxy, before JtL moved it to Dant MO]. I knew the market cost for everything, and knew who had what, how much they wanted it for and how much I could skim in the deal.
I made a fortune as a go between deal breaker, gently skimming credits off every deal.
Damn they were great days.
Heh! I used to be the man who knew where to get stuff also. Being half-combat and half-crafter, I knew where you could buy good weapons and armor. I had a deal with an armorsmith who gave me a VERY nice cut off the profits from his sliced armor vendor. I could hook this guy up with hides my friends hunted, working a free suit of armor for my friends outta the deal.
I had several mineral/energy extractors going, so I usually had that on me to give to noobs who needed it or to sell it.
I could just hang around Anchorhead and be the guy people went to for slices because I had a good reputation for it.
Those were really good days, but they haven't died!
Right now, I do slicing for my guild, and I'm a big asset in combat now. I'm about to decorate my Nova Courier today and make it alllll smugglery!!!!
I feel important to my guild because I can chit chat for periods of time discussing weapons modifications and the MANY ways they could modify their armor to be effective in certain situations.
As soon as we "smuggle", I'll be skimming parts like a MAD MAN so that I can finally be the supplier again instead of rat trying to get his hands on these slicing parts ![]()
Being a smuggler is good these days, I can tell ya that!
