How I did Slicing 1:

i spammed like hell in theed before my guild leader gave me 47 locked containers.spammingsucks sooo bad, it made me want to cry. people who sell those for 6k a piece kinda annoy me (no offense to guy saying he did that earlier in the thread). its just the new guys that need them &most can't afford containers @ 6k per.

good luck finding containers. i'll let you know if i find any if you're on corbantis & post your in-game name.

that sounds good so if i was to slice it does the rest of the group benifit from this?

Yes, if you are in a group then the mission payouts for the missions you pick up (not missions the rest of the group pick up) will have added payout.

well you're already a novice so PART of this wont apply

pretty much kill meatlumps outside tyrena with your VKs while grinding up unarmed, i looted about 7 getting to unarmed 3, you'll also loot em of jantas, stormies, ect,

OR you can shout at a starport (coronet) "slicing containers for FREE, you keep the contents inside and i dont look, will pay 100k if i fail!" (use molecular clamps of course)

How I did slicing 1 & 2 on Gorath:

If you're constantly broke like me then get a couple k of the cheapest metal you can find off the bazzar to make your laser knives with. Even better if you're a miner and have access to a factory. Roll your own and don't pay the overinflated prices people seem to want.

While I did the pistol grind up to novice smuggler, I kept my eye on the CNET bazzar. Every time a container poped up there for 1-2k or less I bought it. By the time I hit novice (not a power player, so took a while) I had enough containers to make it all the way through 1 and almost halfway though 2. Unfortunatly, someone bought *every* locked container in the entire *GALAXY* on the bazzar (there were hundreds) and I had to finish off 2 by slicing terminals.I combined this with a little artisan shuffle between two cities that were just over 100 seconds apart and managed to make some good money while slicing. Also, a master smuggler handed me about 20 containers also which helped out *greatly*. Even now on gorath finding a*locked* container on the bazzar is a chance event, although they're becoming easier to find.

After that, crates of CDEFs, crates of Clamps, and crates of WUKs. On gorath i found them to go from 5k a crate up. Around CNET you'll find the highest prices, with 10k a crate being common. That will take you the rest of the way through slicing 3 and 4. You can save a lot of money by rolling your own tools, especially if you happen to be a miner. Even if you're *not* a miner, it might be worth putting a personal mineral extractor out for a day or so just to get metal to make the knives.

Oh hey, did anyone else notice that slicing two needs 10k exp, AND is capped at 10k exp? As in, I kept slicing for a bit after I hit the level and didn't notice for a bit that i wasn't gaining *any* xp. I had to go train to continue slicing. I tried logging out and back in, but it wasn't the bug where it doesn't show your xp. Is this working as intended, or did someone make a typo somewhere?

when you use the molecular clamp, you have to pay attention to the text window when it pops up. It will say either "the molecular clamp glows red, indicating the negative wire must be cut" or "the molecular clamp glows blue, indicating the positive wire must be cut".

You then simply cut the wire that the clamp indicates, it is right 100% of the time. Then cut the second wire and you're done.

I just recently became Novice Smuggler and was hoping some veteran could answer a question for me. How do most people go about getting Locked Containers to get to Slicing 1? So far, in just normal play, I've only found one locked container... I did find a vendor selling them, but they were for 10k a piece, and I don't have that kind of money to spend 200k+ to get to Slicing 1. Any suggestions/tip would be great. Thanks.

If you can muster up 5-6K (do a mission or 2), and find a vendor selling clamps. Buy a crate of25 (standard crate) and then create a macro that you are slicing containers for free, guaranteed. Make sure you state that it is guaranteed, then you are more likely to get business. With molecular clamps you can't fail a slice, just make sure you read the little statement of which wire to cut (red or blue). Also make sure you have enough laser knives. I believe you can craft them at novice level in sets of ten. 25 slices should more than get you to level 2 slicing.

I recently did the container thing myself, my PA gave me some, and I bought the rest. I figured my time was more valuable than the credits. It cost a lot (prices ranged from 2500-6000), but at least I don't have to beg. Rasing the money to buy the containers helped XP in the dirty fighting line.
