Thread: Brilliant idea for smuggling people...

The image of the criminal wouldn't be scanned or easily recognizable in most situations. Police are more able to type a name into a database search than scan in the image on an ID. A true fake id would rely primarily on the ability of the person to create a 'clean' background for the persona they are assuming at that time. Not on their new hair style.
DING DING DING DING!
We have a winnah!
Thanks Caylin, for putting into words what I could not, due to my rage.

Thats right, the GCW correspondent saw the situation, and automaticaly thought of IDs as a solution, not smugglers. Thats an example of how low on the radar we are. shame we arent really smuggling things, noone notices us anyway.

QFE.
Furthermore, the movies showed people taking on fake identities by either wearing different clothes (TPM & AotC with Padme/Amidalla/Pilot, ANH on board the DS in stormy armour, RotJ with BH clothes/armour) or giving clearance codes (RotJ, shuttle trying to land on Endor).
Unless you want to include elements of the EU as a precedent for image design (for which every occurance had forged IDs), no image designer skills were used as a means of disguise or subterfuge.

Making a fake ID is an art, wich is the area of an image designer. Its a skill. Meaning if the smuggler makes the fake ID he would also be an image designer.Haahaahaahaaa it is an art just like the art of smuggling people dude that has to be the weakest argument Ive ever heard for anything, every profession is a art in its own way.
you just proved my pointOMG dude that art of making a fake ID would be by someone who nows how to make an ID look real, hence breaking the law. I did not prove your point you just dont seem to get that any illegal activity is the job of the underworld the people best to know how to brake the law are criminals, I dont go to my barber to get fake ID's do I? Also ID's are not artists to the classic sense they change the way people look not make art work. I proved your point, man thats a good one. Try again
If you were to duplicate paintings, would you hire a random criminal, or a talented painter?you would hire some one of questionable nature because i normal artist would never fake a painting and again ID's are not artists they change the way people look while that is a skill and an art form so is music, should a musician make fake ID's as well.
Again in SWG terms, that questionable person would be a smuggler/*inster profession*
I dont understand why its ok to short change a smuggler on his ablity to smuggle. Why not let Smugglers do hair? Why not let BH's use a light saber? Why not let me tame my own mount. Why is it so wrong for smugglers to want to be the only profession that does what a smuggler does. I just dont get why people cant see that.

This is another example of how the smuggler profession seems to pass under the radar, though, such as with the smuggling vs. Smuggling argument that keeps coming up in things JTL-related. I'm not sure what can be done about it except keep reminding people that we do in fact exist and we still in fact can't smuggle--preferably as calmly and pleasantly as possible--whenever something that strikes as a huge duh for smugglers comes up.
The devs actually recognize our existence these days, so hopefully that'll be the first step in getting us back in the minds of the players.

Are you saying a Smuggler created the Padme Disguise that was on the person killed when the bomb went off?
I don't remember seeing any smugglers as a part of the scene, yet, she looked quite a bit like...

I think our point has been made pretty well over there (evidently well enough to drag Auraboron here, heh heh), so it's probably time to let a thread about the GCW get back to its regularly scheduled business. I do still find it troubling that we weren't mentioned in the first suggestion, but we're definitely in his head now, so good times.

And i dont remember ever seeing any ID's in any movie, maybe we should take them out of the game (just making a point I m not serious), the "i didnt see" argument is a weak one at best. Sorry if Im harsh on ya but if you remember when you were made a Corr and people were freaking out I had your back I try to be a fair and open minded person, but i can not on this issue. No one but an ID can change someones look, no one but a CH can tame a mount, no one but a DE can make a Droid. Is it just sooooo much for Smuggler to ask that if and when Smuggling is added to the game, we like anyother profession be the only ones to do it. Come on its not a lot to ask.

Check out this thread for an idea how to bypass starport security altogether.
This is one main point I have with your GSW idea, we have been working on this stuff for ever and you failed to even include us in your first posting about smuggling people, come on now that would piss anyone off.
