Thread: Maybe it's just me feeling this... but something IS better than nothing.
I would have to agree, that something 'In Concept' Is better than nothing; However, That something better include a space aspect to smuggling before it gets to Live, or I'm am just not going to be happy with it. Mainly because SOEs biggest excuse for having us wait this long is that they couldn't give us smuggling w/out space, and I wouldn't want to make Liars out of them would I?

I understand your point but given the fact that the dev's have a bad habit of never getting around to finishing anythingI think over all the fear is we get ground they say we are done, end of story. While it is in "concept" we should unite around one common goal and that is to make they system as good as it can be. To fight kicking and screaming all they way to get our voice heard to let the Dev's knowloud and clearthat we want a rich smuggling system (we have waited over 2yrs for it)and we want it to include space which is the biggest aspect of smuggling in a space game. (i.e. any smuggler in any Star Wars Movies or in the EU, hell even Firefly). Everything Smuggler about Star Wars centers around a smugglers ship, to back down while it's in concept gives us delivery missions and I just think that sucks.
*fixed 'unit' to 'unite' for clarification
This is what I have been saying for days. I'm sick of typing it, and everyone is sick of seeing it. Let's be honest, though. We will get NOWHERE alone. Let's do this together. I think your logic is dead on, Iawo. But many don't. Most don't. For the sake of the community, let's unit (heh...sorry Yimaz, couldn't resist.) e. All for one and one for all...and such. Let's win one for the Gipper, swing for the fences...I ran out of metaphors already, but you know what I mean.

my spelling goes down the bowl when I'm all into a thread, damn American public schools. The key to this is that we do all get behind a space addition to the Smuggling mini-game, that we all agree that not adding it is unacceptable...now I think my piss arch is the highest atm so who is up for trying to beat it?.........wait that sounds bad.**shakes off and zips up**
I say space, but that's just me. Reasons why:
- A Smuggler is nothing without his/her ship.
- Gives Smuggling missions depth, otherwise it's going to feel like delivery missions REALLY fast.
- The devs have repeatedly told us they viewed Smuggler as more of a "space-y" profession...why not hold them to that?

It does notmatter how long you been a smuggler what does matter is settling for glorified delivery missions is NOT what we should be accepting not after all the BS we have been told time and time again. Anything is not better then nothing.
Oh and as far as flames from this community it does matter how long you have or have not been here because if you had been here for any lenth of time you would know it has taken over 2yrs for us to become this jaded when dealing with SOE.

The answers provided by Tiggs via Wes lead to nothing resembling a smuggling system.
I don't care how long anyone has been here. The history threads are still around to show why this community has it's angry tone towards the development team. Admittedly, sometimes that tone gets transferred onto those who don't understand, but in the end Smugglers usually let it die. Beer and pie for all is the usual result.

Have any of you stopped to think that if you had must maybe accepted the original revamp that we might have been able to build on? I'd still rather have something to build on than nothing at all.

This is a comon misconception. The publish 9 proposal had nothing in it. Nothing involving smuggling. Nothing to fix the problem with spices. Nothing that achieved anything for this community. There was absolutely nothing to build on in that revamp.
The foresight at that time, that revamps of a profession led to the end of further development, is what caused the community to reject it, and it's what gives many cause to reject the current proposals at this time. If we had accepted publish 9, we may not even be discussing IC proposals right now, in fact, since we're not BH or Jedi it's almost a given we wouldn't be.
Something is not better than nothing when something actually is nothing. I say it is nothing because it isn't remotely close to what this community has been asking for and there is not the slightest hint of smuggling in it whatsoever.
There is still a fundamental breakdown between what the devs are saying and what we are saying. They may now understand our stand that a lack of smuggling is "game breaking" or a bug for this profession as opposed to just content addition, but they have still severely missed the mark on what smuggling actually is.
Since their proposals are not smuggling, then we, as a community, need to reject their vision and get them talking again so they understand our position. The fact that their only response to the outcry of the community was a disclaimer statement should be evidence enough that they still don't get it.
