Thread: Maybe it's just me feeling this... but something IS better than nothing.

I know the facts. I also know that there's been a lot of this "its our way or nothing at all" attitude. Tell me this: If you were a game designer and saw nothing but disrespect and flames from a certain profession, would you go ahead and give them what they wanted? I sure wouldn't. The smuggler community used to be much more easy going than most are now. We used to roll with the punches and find a way to keep plugging. These days, 90% of the vocal community is nothing but whiners that might as well be jedi. You guys sure whine like them, that's for sure.
Iawo, you are most definitely entitled to your opinion, but by your own statements it is easy to see that your logic is flawed.
You say if you saw nothing but disrespect and flames from a certain profession, you wouldn't give them what they wanted. Well, you wouldn't survive long in business. This is a sign that there is something seriously wrong with your product and if it were MY business, I would be actively looking at what had caused this degree of dissatisfaction.
You say 90% of the community "is nothing but whiners that might as well be jedi." This made me laugh, because JEDI get more attention than any other profession, with the exception of BH, who hunt them. Your logic is flawed -- by your logic, the Jedi should have been ignored just as the Smugglers have been. OR the Smugglers should have had more attention paid to them than they have. Both cannot be true.
The fact that you compare the "90% of the vocal community" to the "whiners that might as well be Jedi" would require either one or the other of those two conditions to exist;notboth conditions existing at the same time (which is what we have here). In addition, when you look at the flames and disrespect on the Jedi board, by your logic, they should have been ignored by the developers as well.
Yes, we used to be more easygoing as a community. We had this ironic, jaded but funny approach to our plight. We have tried everything. Positive feedback, tons of suggestions, excitement and lots of energy literally POURED into what this profession could and should be. Our hopes have been dashed more than once. Each time, we would get more jaded, get angry, then get positive again. More ideas were written up, our hopes would be raised in response to posts by SOE, then dashed again. The cycle has repeated several times now.
Finally, the jaded, ironic humor has been replaced by unabashed and sometimes nasty cynicism. It makes me sad, I don't like it either, but in my opinion, this is a two-way street; you reap what you sow, which is whatyou have been trying to say in your posts -- but again, by YOUR logic, SOE and LA are only reaping what they have sown.

AMEN.
I want something out of all this mess, even if it doesn't include space. I'd much rather prefer if they did include space in it, butI want something rather than nothing.
Edited out all the pointless nonsense.

Then why do you people keep bringing it up and bragging about how you turned it down?

I'll tell you where it stems from. It stems from the fact that most of the "old guard" think that registration date means something. If you guys really want to make a distinction, then fine.
No it stems from the fact that you dont know your history and come in here and try to tell us we need to chill out when you dont evenknow 1/2 of what your talking about. You have this ego not us. You tell people to calm down when you dont even know why people are mad. Most of the old guard has always been cool with n00bs and still are, it's you guys that dont know crap and act all high and mighty that peeve off the older players. Don't act like you know what your talking about when you dont and you might gett a better reception from people. (and that goes beyond this forum son)

Then tell me this: Why did Wes make a post about the community tone if the old guard is cool with newbs? I think you need to study the recent history of these forums a little better yourself. I know you aren't one of those old guard that are acting all high and mighty, but there are a lot of them at are. - ouch while I hate to admit it I dont troll much anymore....damn you new troll!!You and Fishbrains are two of the old guard that I really respect because of it. - Oh you bastage, flattery will get you everywhere.
Anyway... it's pointless arguing over newbs and old guard. I should never have mentioned that. I do still think that getting at least ground smuggling missions opens the door for better things. Not right away, but for the future. It would almost immediately increase the smuggler populations, and more people = more power via more players with a voice.

I don't necessarily think we should back down. It think we should make it clear that we think smuggling should include space. I just don't think we should flat out tell them to forget about it if it doesn't.
I think we need to scream to be heard I think over all most people will in fact leave the game if the offer just ground I think they need to not wuss out and keep 1/2 arse'in us. They need to poop or get off the pot, they put time into everyone else and not us they put us off and off and off and then what they give to us is a watereddown version of something that sounds great or could have been great. Lucas Arts has said they will no longer be putting out mediocre Star Wars games and SOE needs to wake up to the fact that this could be one of the best games on line over all if they start writing code that is worthy of the Star Wars title. Sorry but I dont want to be a Jedi I want to be a Smuggler and I will not settle for a ground system I do once andnever again. I will quit the gameand I dont want to do that, while it is in concept it is an all ornothing type of thing.
