Remember though, the YT series is extreamly easy to modify.
Move the Cockpit? No problem. Add another turret? Easy as pie. Bigger engine? Sure, just a bit less cargo room. Hack the thing appart and make it look compleatly differnt than stock? Been done.
Heck, attach an A-Wing? It's been done.
It would be nice if they had variant designs for things like the cockpit (left, centre right) but that's a lot of work for them... so it's rather unlikely.

I don't think the YT series is THAT modifiable. I believe its design is more modular to allow for easier upgrading of systems. I don't think the frame itself is modular. The YT-1300 couldn't have a centerline cockpit, because the mandibles are there to hold cargo containersthat won't fit in the interior bay.

A little off-subject, but if there's nobody else in your YT-whathaveyou, does anyone think there will be an auto-turret feature. If I'm flying my YT-1300 and I get swarmed in my empty ship, I'm gonna want the turrets set on "defend" X-Wing Allience style.

I think that's where your group members come in ![]()
Also (I have no evidence for this to back it up, just guessing), you could probably set your throttle to max, put yourself on course for the jump point, then dash to the guns yourself. That'd cause you to choose between manouvering and shooting at them, should you be silly enough to go into hostile territory without a crew.
Of course, this could all be bollox and one of the abilities you get as you go up the piloting tree in privateer is to use the automated turrets.
