Actually, I think it's more like this:
We wrote the paper well in advance of the assignment. We turned it in. The teacher gave us the assignment, so we turned in another paper that we refined from the first one. Then the teacher asked for the paper again, so we wrote it again. THEN, the paper was lost, so we need to write it AGAIN. And on the eve of getting it graded, it was chewed up by the dog, and lo and behold, we need to do it one more time.
How much can you take before you just give up and say "give me the F."

Yep, use one PS2 device, and use a USB device for the other, that is actually what I do because I love my trackball (marble FX) but my wife hates it so I have a USB optical mouse for her.
