Thread: If a developer ever posted here . . .
I also can understand that dont can openly talk about all bugs, but a list of know issues, like those chat tabs, the mining ship, ... would have done a lot.
Another thing is, if they cant tell us something because of the NDA or because there is not much going on, or because they are all on vacation or they are working hard and progress is slow in what ever:
- Just say so!
A regular post, even with just :
- Hi folks, work is in progress, nothing new, I got the latest bugs compiled and confirmed with the correspondent and they are on their way to the DEVs.
Would do the trick, thats all.
That would:
(a) show they are working
(b) got our latest bug thread
(c) using feedback from our correspondents
(e) communicate with us!
But I shouldnt have to tell somebody from community relations how they should do their work.

I am sure your intent is good, but coming to the SL forum and telling us that Rifleman...a profession often included in FOTM templates, gets fewer posts is frankly...bull. Riflemen don't get as many posts because the profession as a whole is working fine. This is made clear by many FOTMs before and after Curb including it. Can the same be said about SL? No! So chill, moral has been lowand some of them are just a little upset by seeing their profession in a constant state of chaos.
What is being done about SL xp? Needing to gain pistol xp is contrary to the Squad Leader experience. Blixtev had an issue with the SL abilities not being something you could use to realistically gain xp so he decided to arbitrarily make it pistol xp. Has there been any progress on coming up with a better xp system for SL?
And is SL still on the horizon for a revamp? The CU added some nice nuggets, but the profession overall is still very bland and doesn't live up to other SP equivalent professions.
As for my opinion, regardless of how many people play a particular class, there should be at least 1 patch per profession to fix any problems that has arisen in the classes. Yes, it would be a long time to do, but really it would be beneficial.
As for the all questioning SL xp, it changed due to CU things from what I've read. Which is fine. But if the medical profession get xp for medic during combat, HOW is it any different than SL xp? As far as I can tell, there is no difference. I'm MSL, but forcing people to gain xp using pistols and combat (and in the case of the medical professions) is a bit odd. If you want to make it harder to gain elite and hybrid professions, that's fine. The way that combat xp and ranged weapon xp are calculated should be something that should be used across the board, look at Entertainers and Marksman for example. But forcing us to use pistol xp is a bit...odd while medics get medical xp after combat, just like Squad Leaders used to get.
As for what we Squad Leaders are, ask the Correspondants. You accepted their application to be Correspondant so you think they fit to communicate with you. They've read, posted and seen posts as to what we (any and all professions) see ourselves as. The correspondants can answer that for you. Just ask them. Have them post a thread in the profession and once the data has been compiled by them, have them submit it to you. You read it over and take the suggestions that you find fair and use them. And I should ask you this, you made the Squad Leader profession, what did YOU see as Squad Leader as then? So why tell us you have no idea what to do with us when you are the ones who created the profession?
Well, that's my two credits worth. Hope that helps.

Oh so I assume that things like the ALR (a non rifleman weapon) being better then the best rifleman weapon is a non issue (would be -- oh I don't know likeall players giving basically the same benefit as a full template SL)? The fact that startle shot was unbalancing and was changed without input from our professions? This is not to say that SL is less needy , Iwas just stating we have issues as well that the devs have not addressed. I am a huge huge huge supporter of SL's (been one since about 1 month after launch and gave it up post-cu) so I feel for the community and I fight for it. My brother is a Master SL (and has been for a long time as well - probably longer then you) so I do know your current state.
My point was that to say that devs don't talk to one community or another is a pointless waste of time - they do talk and if they give info people get mad, if they don't people get mad - bascially no matter what they say people get mad. It is better to focus on what we can do for our communities and Give good suggestions rather then pointless bickering in threads. I am glad to see Tiggs here reassuring you guys that you are being seen and not forgotten.
Support SL!
make their skills do something worthwhile - better xp, amplify combatent skills
Give them an experience type that works for all professions (would love to see SL /Crafter be viable)
Make Steady Aim work as a timed buff rather then the One shot bug that it currently is
Give SLs some combat weapon specials
Rifleman has issues, I am aware of that, but it is as a whole (the entire profession considered together) much better off than many other professions. That was my point. I would love to see SL as a whole in the same shape as rifleman.
As for your point. That is your opinion. Many of us would like to see some input after we spend time putting stuff together....otherwise we begin to feel we are preaching to the choir while the devs sit at the bar chatting with the bouncer.

I would ask why they are concentrating on adding new stuff instead of fixing bugs, at least the many that have come with all the new stuff?

Basically all we want is continiously communication.
Not a one week of trolling and answering random post.
Its not that Im not thankfull but its their job to do this.
You dont overwelm the taxidriver with presents and praises just because he realy delivers you where you asked him to bring you.

That is clearly of a sign of failures in communication.
I stated this already in my first, as well in my second post and now again im my third post.
To my fellow squad leaders as well as smugglers, riflemens, artisan, entertainers ... .
This is a post in the squad leader forum, forgive us our concentric behaviour around our issues, but the fact that you have to ask/mention your issues in this forum only because Tiggs had /sarkasm on/ the generosity /sarkasm off/ to post here, shows how bad communciation is with the overall community.
So back to topic.
Im still waiting on a answere on this:
