For those of you not blessed to live in an Ephemeroptera mating ground... a collage...
for scale, they're all about 1 inch long
They call them Mayflies here in Minnesota. We get them too.
Dear lord they are everywhere.
Yeah but we kinda get a double whammy. We get these big ass brown beetles. No idea what either of the bugs are actually named, so I guess they are just called by the month they spawn in, its usually one right after another. The brown ones are simply called June bugs. They suck as well.

I think a nuclear bomb is a little drastic. I suggest we use napalm.

I feel your pain and disgust...I'm in eastern Michigan and we get covered with fish flies every year at this time. It's really sick when you pull up to a fast food joint and the entire building exterior is seething with them...the employees hosing them off the building and down the sewer drain.

ha, mayflies, the stupidest name ever, considering they show up in late June.
Not here. Like I said, I live in Minnesota. They come end of may.
Yeah, then they all die when the invasion of mosquitos comes. The mosquitos kill everything in sight. KILL THE MOSQUITOS!! I remember when I liked living in MN

To battle the mosquitos (instead of fogging and other chemical treaments) - we should all breed dragonflies.
The dragonfly eats about 10-15 mosquitos per day or somthing like that.

They don't seem so bad this year though.

Holy freal I live in Omaha and I've never heard of either of these except when I went to eastern Iowa for a re-enactment. I take it these things are an eastern probelm.
Wow....Omaha....um, yeah. Other than cruise Dodge Street, not much there to do. The punch bowl or whatever that bowling alley is I spose. Er was it Ranch? Meh, same thing.

Fire? Napalm? Airstrikes? Good lord, guys. And I thought I was a big baby when dealing with bugs. Stay inside and watch TV, drink beer and eat pie till they're gone.
That's the Smuggler way.
Edit: Good Lord, I'm purple.
