Anyway, thanks to Tiggs for popping in; one of the things I know Tiggs is very big on is not saying anything on a development issue unless she is extremely sure what she says is accurate, so I'm intrigued to find out what she's referring to about a Smuggler upgrade. Here's hoping Tiggs manages to tell us what she's referring to.

Which is very odd, since an ACTUAL Dev posted recently that an overall upgrade wouldn't happen.

Either Tiggs missed the memo, or there is new information.

In either case, I'll believe it not only when it makes it to the patch notes, but when I'm actually playing it in game. We've had over two years of lies about it; yes, lies - you can only pull the "development needs change" card so many times before you either should be let go because you have horrible time/project management skills or because you outright lied about something you never had on the plate.

It's amazing what people get away with in the game industry...

Well I wish there would be more activity on the "In Concept" bord, but on the other hand, would have the devs rather working on the game, then writing about working on the game. Also I wondering if I would, being in ther eposition, keep telling us things, that are not at least in testing.

As for the HoC Dev-Chat, it surely was a waste of the devs and pur time, there was almost no information and I allread knew how the would use many words to express nothing, when the question was asked -I for my part would only do such a dev chatif I actually would be willing to give answers. A little partfor definitions here:to me an answer, is putting an end to a particular question, through knowledge. The "answers" on the HoC were more like a constant reciting of... you will find out someday. It is the flair of politics on the dev side, thatcreates the imprssion of lies.

Oh and Tiggs is doing a fine jobhere, as is TH they are getting payed for this, yes - still they are not our punchingballs.

No, you're misquoting. He didn't say it wasn't going to happen, he said he wouldn't promise somthing that he wasn't sure would happen.

world of difference.

It's very unlikely we'd ever do a full profession revamp for smugglers anyway.

This is an important point, and I understand that a good many thing we see and hate one piece at a time, may actually make sense when you have the larger view.

If SOE would give us an idea where they plan to take us and where the issues lie, even if it's only the broad strokes with no timeline, the pieces might make more sense as they fall into place.

Regarding the Smuggler upgrade it will come.

Whoa... am I the only one who's had a serious deja vu feeling right now?

The point is, we heard it all before, but when are you (meaning SOE, not you personally Tiggs) going to deliver? That's the problem, you see: we've had so many broken promises that there's hardly anyone around that will take the above statement seriously. At least I know that I'll believe in it when I see it, not one second sooner.

And anyway, what happened to JFreeman's "We're going to stop promising a Smuggler Revamp we never seem to get around to deliver"?? Maybe you should heed that advice, Tiggs. Because making promises like this only opens you up to flames, when yet again your Dev team won't come through.

I try not to make promises I can't keep =)

Woah. Ok, now you have my interest. So I'm assuming you have some inside information that will mean good news for smugglers.

Really? I'm glad you're here to tell us these things. But um. WHY were the seperatists there? Because Sideous told them to be there of course. Now, here's a little question that I have been wondering, and was hoping ToOw would answer.

Why'd Sideous choose Mustafar? The fact that he had all the medical droids, potions and Sith arcanery to install Vaders armor all ready and waiting before he even went to fetch Anakin's charred body tells me he had it all planned out.

So again, why Mustafar. There's somthing going on there that we don't know.

Why Mustafar? Probably because it is remote and there was only a slim chance that the Jedi would stumble over them by accident. As for the medical treatment of Vader - did it take place on Mustafar? Personally, I found it rather lame that Palpatine had the necessary equipment at hand to save Anakin in time. Yes, you could say it was foresight, but I was of the impression, that Palpatine was as surprised as was Vader. And Palpatine´s foresight has been known to fail at times...

The operation itself took place on Courascant. but he did have everything ready. Maybe he didn't know what was going to happen, but he knew he'd need the armor and cybernetic parts.
True his foresight does fail him, but still, Sideous was carefully planning every single step of the way. He was as machiavellian as anyone ever was. That's why mustafar is so appealing. It's the mystery surrounding it. Not just anothjer ball o planet, but that specific place.
Yah, the mystery is definately it. the mystery and the lava surfing!

wasnt he already experimenting w/ cybernetics by making grevious? It could have just been experimentation of creating super-soldiers w/ human adaptivity w/ droid strength.

Not that I agree with the new expansion or Obi-Wan as a "blue glowie", but old Ben did give the "Take me to Alderaan" mission to Master Smugglers Han and Chewie.

Personally, I think the person in charge of picking the questions needs a good hard prod up the backside from a heavily shined boot; for some reason questions that were answered kept being repeated (and it's not as if there weren't a wide variety to choose from). Ah well, here's the log:

Before a chat starts everyone is notified of what will be dicussed. Question takes post questions to the Dev teams and we get to sort through them. I can tell you last night it was a chore due to the same questions getting spammed over and over and they had nothing to do with the expansion. We stay on topic because we have members of that particular team present to deal iwth the questions asked.

Sounds to me like that is a symptom of a greater problem. Like the DEV team is spending more time trying to hype an expansion that wasn't asked for rather than fixing current issues in the game.

We have different teams that handle different areas of the game. The expansion has its own team separate from Live.

Lets spend less time informing the public about back patting self advertising and more time informing us of the time tables on the fixes for the current application we pay monthly subscriptions for.

you opened the gate, and i'm stepping through. do tell us about these longterm goals. we, the players, should really have an opportunity to approve or disapprove of them.

In the next few weeks there will be more information on this.

Wow. What she is saying is that there are some big-time nerfs coming down the tubes, and that the dev team doesn't give an airborne rats ass about our opinions because they have a vision. I can't believe sony still puts its name on this game. Seriously, all the other SOE games are not this bad. Regarding the "separate teams" for different developement tasks, we all know how that works. If you have 10 developers you put 8 on the new expansion and 2 for bug fixes. After the expansion the 8 get moved back to bug fixes. The whole "the expansion is coming out because that team got finished with it" routine is not fooling any of us. If you don't have enough developers to maintain the game and push out new content, by all means please hire more.

Statements about "making unpopular changes for the longterm good of the game" reeks of a contemptable arrogance that typically preceeds a mass exodus of players. Statements such as that are the deathknell for communities, player/developer relations, and a game that is fun to play. Experienced MMORPGers know that statements like this mean it is time to move on.

Bravo, Erynder. Very well said. I really love this game because it lets me roleplay a lot, but I am very disapointed with the way SOE deals with the community. Your words really caugh me, I am impressed and touched by your speech.

I am sorry that you leave the game, since someone that honestly writes this must be a very good player.

/deepbow

I hope Tiggs forwards your thoughts to the devs too, and I hope they're at last taken into consideration.

I guess the xp gain wasn't included as one of those decisions.

Sure.... we alwasy here "In a few weeks" and we never get anything.

The devs do what they want for the game... it has nothing to do with long term goals. Unless your long term goals are the implosion of this game. You guys are doing what you think will make SOE more money, and pissing on the players. Your appealing to the power gamers, and genericMMORPG fans...and not to the people who actually like Star Wars. The long term goal should be to make this the best Star Wars experience possible... not make star wars fans puke. This new expansion is a ****ing joke. It has no star wars value at all... it make no sence and is simply a ploy to make more money off of episode 3. You can lie and bullsh** the community all you want tiggs... but the dev actions speak louder then words.
