wait, caylin are you trying to tell me that tool quality has no effect on the slice? What about hawtpants? HAVE you told them about that trick?! HA
Actually it's the QUALITY of the Hawtpants that makes all the difference.
The sad part is that as a wookiee, I can't wear Hawtpants of -any- quality. Can I get a second on wookiee Hawtpants??? Someone? Anyone?? Buehler?

Oh, your full of crap your mind did not snap.. there was no twiching of eye prior to snap.
So, now, if you do ur slicing next to a crafting station you can geta better slice. i always slice in the high fifties when i do that.... cough.

I only hope the dev's sneakily change the effect of slicing, so using the worse resource ever will give you only 35% slices
And remember the worse spawn of resource ever has to used, only those will work

well.. what difference should most of them make anyway?
node: always 75% (though i regularly get wrong results 2 out of 3 times *grrrr*)
clamp: always 100%
knife: well, its a knife. a wire couldnt care less if you cut it with a hitech knife or use your teeth
leaving the kits. chemical doesnt matter anyway and copper with good conductivity shouldnt be hard to find, so if its ever changed, i pray only this part will really matter.
but just as random ideas for you to ignore (as i would):
node: results vary between 65% and 85% depending on quality (nice bonus til you get slicing 4 and still not replacing clamps)
kits: modify the result by -5% to +5%
and in general, how about a formula like this:
10% + kit quality bonus (-5% to +5%) + skill bonus (0%/5%/10%) + random (0% to 15%)
clamped to the limits of 10% to (25/30/35)%
slicing 2 with lousy kit:
10% - 5% + 0% + random = 5% to 20%
with average kit:
10% + 0% + 0% + random = 10% to 25%
with perfect kit:
10% + 5% + 0% + random = 15% to 30% (clamped to 25%, but 6/16=37.5% chance to get a 25% slice)
slicing 4 with lousy kit:
10% - 5% + 5% + random = 10% to 25%
with average kit:
10% + 0% + 5% + random = 15% to 30%
with perfect kit:
10% + 5% + 5% + random = 20% to 35% (clamped to 30%, but 6/16=37.5% chance to get a 30% slice)
master with lousy kit:
10% - 5% + 10% + random = 15% to 30%
with average kit:
10% + 0% + 10% + random = 20% to 35%
with perfect kit:
10% + 5% + 10% + random = 25% to 40% (clamped to 35%, but 6/16=37.5% chance to get a 35% slice)

i just want to know if these changes if they ever happen are good. im willing to put them aside for 2 months till it comes out and play halo 2 and half life 2. i invested alot of money into these weapons and they better get some dmg slices

right now, the only thin we know is that IF things change, they will change during the combat balance or the following revamp. That doesn't mean that it may change, and it could stay this way all along.
I do believe that if they are to change slicing in a way that could let us have a hand on the result, it would occur during the combat upgrade since it would affect weapons and armors, and these items are definitely combat related. It would be non sense to have the combat upgrade and then tweak everything built up in this upgrade by playing with slices.
Hmm wait a second, if it would be a nonsense, maybe that's what they would do, don't you think?
