Docs don't buff you and then wait around for you to bring money to them, so why should a smuggler be any different.

I keep their items until they do pay, and /report the conversation that has taken place to show that's what I'm doing.

I have better luck wearing the Rogue tag. It filters out some of the buttheads. Don't make as much probably but less stress, better clientel- their desperate.

Thankfully I've never had that problem....
If they were simply to find that they couldn't afford it, I guess I'd give it back to them anyways, but add them to my friend's list with a "not paid" note next to their name. As for refusing to pay, I make it extremely clear each time what my prices are, so they can either pay up or shut up.

are you even a smuggler? im not going to sit around all day and wait for some cheapass to slack off bitching and moaning taking all day to get credits. i dont want to have to stop what im doing later on and giev him his **edit** and deal with his tells.
as for slicing, the imediate second they give me their weapons they agree to MY TERMS. they pull any crap i keep the guns, why? because no one forced him to give me the guns, he CHOSE to give me the guns. im not saying i will take them and run, i always slice them but if they dont agree to pay, i JUST got a new set of armor/gun.
slicing is a mutual agreement, they provide the goods, i provide the service, you dont see people buying guns then going to the vendor and going OOPS! i dont have enough money or IM NOT PAYING THAT!.
after i do my part, and they decide they arent going to pay. their goods are mine mine mine.
unless its a new guy, i usualy slice for them for free, because theyre new AND new people are generaly nicer.

When I first started to slice as a master (almost 10 months ago) I wouldn't get too many ppl not "able to pay". But now it seems to be an everyday thing. Before I would haggle with them, and this was with only charging 2k-3k for weapons/armor,now I charge 4k-6k a slice. I'm no longer so desperate for the cash that I will waste my time going back and forth about the price, "I'm only in it for the money", so if even after you agree to my price and you still won't pay, I sell it on the bazzar for a lot more.

To the person who commented that you pay a doc up front, why do you think you pay a doc up front? Could it be because some people either dont have the credits to pay, or have the credits but just dont want to pay? You don't see too many docs buffing on credit or haggling over the price either, do you? Should slicing be any different? I'd be willing to bet the person who posted that is NOT a smuggler.
Don't think its fair to put a non-paying customer's weapon on the bazaar for sale? I think it's a great idea. My alt (who is not played anymore)was/is MasterSmuggler and I oncemade the mistake of giving a person their armor back before I'd recieved payment for it. I didn't think they'd paid and was busy slicing a lot of other people's stuff. After the rush was over I scrolled back to see if they'd tipped and they hadn't. I sent a couple of /tells and e-mails but oddly enough, they never responded. Needless to say, that taught me a lesson about being careful to make sure I get paid before I trade their stuff back. Fair to sell someone's Acklay stun baton for 6k on the bazaar? Maybe not, but it's poetic justice for a creton who doesnt want to pay.

I make sure the know the skinny before I even accept the trade to slice the item in the first place. If they aren't sure, I tell them to think about it and hunt somebody up later. Being that I'm only a Slicer, it's easier to convince them that they should find a master if I'm not in the mood to slice.

I have decided that I am not going to take any crap from anyone. Well I will go a little easier on the noobies, they are generally a little more poor and need a little more help plus if you get them to be your **edit**, then you can blackmail them when they get better for whatever you need. 
I have my price and my Rules of Engagment writen in my bio. In my slicing spam I state that my price, there is no way they should miss anything.
I am going to start charging 7k flat rates for slicing, im also being nice and charge 35k for a set of items of 6 or more (thus a full suit is 35k instead of 42k). On my sever, and most severs, most people are millionares and if they give me any of that "I'm too poor" or "I'm not paying for that" crap I will keep and do whatever the hell I feel like with their oops, I mean MY stuff. If it is a decent, powerful weapon I will more than likely try to sell it. /yell "Selling brand new 80% composite armour! Full set, all sliced for 10k!" that outa put the client back to reality 
However, if it is a pretty bad weapon I will usually tell the client "I will destroy your weapon/armour in 30 seconds, you have untill then to pay or its going bye-bye" that will make them think twice.If they refuse the first time to pay me but then change their mind: they are going to pay me extra for putting up with them. If they still complain, they can go to hell. /report me all you want, I am doing Nothing wrong, they are the ones at fault.
This is how I look at it...
The smuggler takes time out of His/Her day to slice the client's stuff. Usuing their own rescourses to do it.
The client gives the goods and the credits. Done deal, easy as that.
I am a Master Smuggler and a Bad Ass to the Core. If you dont like it? Get out of my Galaxy.

I usually just shrug it off. If they don't have the cash, no sense in raking them over the coals just for a slice. Its just monopoly money afterall. If they go out of their way to scam me, that warrants an /addignore and /denyservice, and that's that.

my rules are as follows;
1. 10k a slice, armour or weapon.
2. No whinging about a low/speed slice, it still makes it a better weapon.
2. No discounts. If you want a discount find a hologrinder or go to Tesco's.
3. Non payment results in said item's being placed in my vendor for 10k. (have done it before).

You think thats harsh? I don't, not anymore.

If the customer doesn't pay me, he doesn't get his items back, simple as that. I don't take "IOU"s, the only people I'd loan to are people that I slice for free.
If a customer doesn't have the money, they shouldn't ask for the service. You don't walk into a restaurant, order dinner and then haggle the price because you don't have enough money. I remind such people that I've performed the service they asked me to and they had better make coming up with the funds their top priority because I will sell the item as soon as I'm tired of waiting for my pay. It's called "repossession" and it's a time-honored tradition of the underworld.
