I loop it and keep track of how much I've transferred by watching my credit balance in my inventory window.
When the balance = original balance + profit (which I calculate beforehand), I /dump the macro.

Just wondering what's the going rate on your server? It sounds like 94.4 is the 'cost' for a colonel for each FP. On sunrunner, the delegate rate is about 150 credits per FP.

When I was selling on Bria, going rate for Rebel faction was 100 cr / pt. With the 10% bonus for winning the GCW, "cost" for Rebel faction is only around 85.5 cr / pt.
(most) Imperial faction was 110-120 cr / pt.

based on the above code, here's the one i use. it has 2 advantages over the original
1) by delegating at each cycle, you never miss buying faction "sorry you've down enough for us" dialog
2) less typing, less room for errors
/del [client] 233;
/conversationstart;
/pause 2;
/ui action conversationResponse5;
/pause 2;
/ui action conversationResponse3;
/pause 2;
/ui action conversationResponse0;
/conversationstop;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;

honestly, i have no idea why 233. the smuggler i work with insists on using it. with the 1:1.18 transfer loss it comes out to 275. maybe just easier to transfer under the 500p cap.

Im at -5000 with imps, I want to be imp now.
How much would it cost, 50k? and is it possible?
or would it be a better idea to just do missions for faction points.

Actually, depending on how much Imperials are charging for FP on your server, it'll probably cost you anywhere from 500k - 1 mil.
And, yes...it is possible. You just have to make sure you've resigned from the Rebellion and have less than 200 Rebel faction points.

Oh, and as a smuggler who doesnt like to pvp, the only time I am declared is when I am delegating faction.
I will not leave the base until my declaration has worn off, and that can get rather boring so i usually go AFK. Thing is, this leaves me vulnerable if there does happen to be an attack on the base, or someone who wanted to grief me follows me to the base to hit me while i am declared. This actually happened tonight, and the story is posted on the chuckles for smugglers thread:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=smuggler&message.id=14037&page=13
Anyway, the best way to avoid getting killed as a smuggler while AFK is to:
1. Make sure you have told the recruiter you want to go covert. The hour clock is now ticking.
2. Create a feign death macro and have it running.
3. TAKE OFF ALL ARMOR YOU ARE WEARING
Thats right, a feign death macro. You turn it on and walk away so that your faction standing will dissapear without fear of someone coming along and capping you while you are off making popcorn or alt-tabbed to submit posts on the boards. The reason you want to take off your armor is that while you are feigning death, your opponent cant kill you, but he can still cause damage. And if they are mad enough that they cant kill you, they will take the time to beat your armor down to 0 condition. If you take your armor off, the worst they can do is wound you down to 1 ham, which, once you lose your overt status, only means you are a medic and entertainer grinders dream. The macro is simple, but I'll post it anyway for those who have a hard time writing their own.
/feigndeath;
/pause 2;
/ui actiontoolbarSlot00;
Thats all there is to it, making sure to capitalize the 'S' in slot and dont forget those semi colons. Then you just put the created macro in the first slot of your F key action bar. The pause is not necessary, but i put it in because otherwise it will wipe out your spatial and combat chat windows in a matter of seconds. and if you let it run long enough, even a 2 second pause will fill it up very quickly.
Remember, DONT FORGET TO DROP YOUR ARMOR. If you forgot and there are people beating on you, its better to stand up and take the death route, as the worst the decay can do is hit you for 5 %. Also, once you lose your overt status, if they break away and end combat and you stand up and peace, they can no longer attack you. So if you come back and find them pounding on you, and its been over an hour, just wait till they start to walk away, then stand up and peace very quickly. The effect is incredibly amusing, but remember to make sure your health, action, and mind are above 0, otherwise you will incap right away and wont have time to peace, and thus wind up dead.

That's not a bad idea.
You could probably also run it while you're doing the delegating. That way, if you get ganked doing the transfer, you won't have to hunt the FD hot-key.
And what difference would one more system message make saying "You must be in combat in order to feign death."...

One question - do you loose you rank when you resign from one faction and join another - and then what happens if your come back to your original faction? Are youthen low ranking once more or does it store a rank for each side?
Trying to see if it's worth it to be able to switch sides or if it's better to just stay reb and if I need imp faction just do it late at night - cause I've not been able to make it to the imp recruiter while being an overt reb to even see what choices he will give me....
I might just be confused as to the whole process however!

Replying to Dreven: I do run it while delegating, should have mentioned that. Also, if you run it just a little slower, and you do get attacked, you have a better chance of making it back in time to see who attacked you. The only reason for that would be to laugh at em. Nothing else. If you think you can be oneshotted by someone before you can feign death, then dont run the pause, period.
Replying to Master Valis:If you are selling faction points, it is not worth it to flip back and forth, unless someone is offering you ALOT of money, enough for you to completely buy your way back up in rank, which is a hassle cause you will need someone of high rank to delegate the faction to, then back to you while you buy it. Keep in mind you can only buy faction if you have less than 500 faction points. So the most you can have after a single purchase is 624, or 637 if you are rebel and get the alderaan bonus. this isnt enough to even buy the 3rd rank. Flipping back and forth between colonel of each rank will cost you 4 millionish every time. If you are selling enough faction perks to cover this and give you enough profit, AND you have someone on both sides high enough in rank to help you purchase the FP, then go for it.
I however reccomend picking a faction and sticking to it. On Bloodfin, the rebel faction bases get pounded often and hard, so i went rebel to help keep them stocked with turrets and new bases. More frequent business from them you see.
