I liked the whole 5 or so days with the nova troopers walking around Mos Espa. If you got caught by those guys, you wern't coming out of that unscratched.

But I do find it a fun little adventure going through Coronet. The CorSec's don't like me too much, and I get attacked there just about every time. I guess some sort of law is on to me...

I just had a thought. The one thing that would breathe life into this game would be an oppressive Empire. This was tried in the Imperial Crackdown, but resulted in being the Imperial Letdown instead.

My solution? The Imperial Smackdown!!!

Put garrisons of Stormtroopers and law enforcement troops in every city. Conduct regular scans of players (to sever capacity). Bring the strong arm of the law to people who try to undermine the Empire and local law enforcement, and people will love it.

The problem with this game is that it is too soft. We have pink frilly-dillies, holoemotes, dancers, musicians, and hotpants. What we need areplayers instantlyexecuted for carryingillegal spices and sliced weapons. Ah hell, let the players be able to put up a fight.

We want illegal acts and armed citizens CRUSHED!!!!

I hereby recommend that all cities be patrolled exactly like Kaadara, Naboo. That city is a nightmare to walk through. I literally have to cling walls in order to keep distance between myself and the Stormtroopers there. Get rid of the Imperial officer pass, and make scans so annoying that carrying sliced gear won't be the rule, it will be the exception.

It is something called "presence", and something this game doesn't have alot of. Every Star Wars movie, book, or game has had this. JTL does have it to some extent, the excitement at least. I want the experience of being an ordinary citizen living during an oppressive rulership. I want war!!! (in a video game at least)

If only towns were randomly hit by shock troops that attacked people at will. If only we would know what it is like to beharrassed and extorted by Imperial figures, beaten out of our beds at night and questioned. This game needs to be like living in Iraq at the present time if you are overt or carrying spice/slice.

SWG needs more authorities who shoot first then ask questions later, and I think our major cities are far far far (far) too tame.

Bring back the NOVA troopers, that was some excitement! I loved having overt Imperials try to kite me into these powerful brutes of the Empire. Areas of cities were REALLY dangerous if you chose to be a combatant in them. There needs to be Rebel equivalents of these in cities friendly to the Rebellion as well.

Cities will be a place for people not wishing to fight or break the law. They will be a place to be STRONGLY avoided by rogues, criminals, and militants (i.e. people overt or carrying spice or sliced gear), and the only one of these players with the skills to comfortably enter them will be the smugglers, PERIOD.

Bring on the beef Empire, I dare you!

Axob,

Great ideas here, I am in total agreement with the "Imperial Crackdown", make it a living nightmare to be holding illegal goods. As a Smuggler I should definitely have a better chance to evade but it would be fun to throw in the "random" factor...i.e. a pack of Muon Gold fell out of the bottom of my boot while being searched (Must have been the guys that I bought the boots from:smileywink.

What about random Stormtrooper raids(Including the Shock Troops)on towns...including Player cities? Walking around Mos Eisley or where everwhen you noticed the Stormtrooper patrols havequadrupled and they are scanning darn near everyone and have set up checkpoints trying to leave via the starport and main entrances to the city. Of course you have to throw in random NPC rebel raids in Imperial towns like Bestine or criminal raids on anytown....I think that would draw folksinto relying on us for our services. Shock Troops can be called in if violence erruptsor a group of overt Rebel players suddenly walk in or like you said Axob, just to create all around havoc.

Slicing in town wouldn't be with out danger as well. Make it so that folks must group with the Smuggler to sliceitems, then as we slice have a "radius effect" where if a patrol walked by they had a chance of "stumbling" on our activities and get attacked. This would add the element of danger and a bit more roleplaying per se (i.e. - No sir, I won't "fix" your gun next to the Stormtroopers in the cantina)

Just my random ideas thrown in there as well, but I would love to see this game get much more deadly to be in....keep those ideas rolling in.

They could even set it[Slicing] up work similarly to someone standing in Theed /shouting "Long Live the Rebellion!", someone says "Slice" or"Slicing" while near Imperial NPCs, then it raises the chance of those NPCs coming over to check out what's going on, instead of insta-capping the players. "Oh, I'm just repairing his weapon, it seems one of the fuses burnt out, so I'm having to bypass it."

This might lessen slicing spam in starports untill people figure out a new phrase to /shout.

Cool idea, didn't even think of something like that.

The searches right now are a joke....for example:

One day I was walking in Kadraa (overt because I wanted my bio sig) and clung to the starport wall like ussual. No scans, nothing I was a happy camper. I get in the Starport, and I start to get lagged so I think great...a scan..bring on the trouble.

As it turned out the stormie told me the overt rebel that it's not cool to bring sliced things into the city and he was going to fine me 250 credits and to be careful next time. I stodd there a second, and jusst stared at him...he stared at me...and thought to myself "Aren't you supposed to shoot me or something?"After that I walked over to my overt X-wing and flew away.Well, I guess he decided it wasn't on his duties to shoot aand kill rebels that day.

Did anyone else know the Imperial army got a Union? It was news to me...I never got the union officials when I had my white armor

you're too quick. Right after I posted that, I had that exact thought and was going toedit.

Too bad you're on Bria, I'd pay you to follow me around!

I'm on Starsider...you could pay me to follow you around... .

Plus, I'm an Imperial Colonel.

I got scanned for the very FIRST time when I shuttled into Kadarra the other day.

"We're sorry Colonel Strobe! We didn't recognize you. Please continue about your business." ...or something like that...

On one hand, I found it funny. On the other hand, I found it highly frustrating that I got off on my Imperial rank rather than my Smuggler evasion bonus.

YES YES YES

so far, all the ideas in this thread are fantastic.

I really am dissapointed by the lack of punishment for doing illegal things. I've been scanned maybe five times since I came back last week. Surprisingly, they found out I was a rebel the first time, so that gave me a bit of excitement. Another time they found contraband on my person and fined me 250 credits.

...oh no, 250 credits.

Yea, I've always thought that the Starwars universe should be horribly oppressive, where good law abiding citizens stay in the "safe" cities, under imperial rule, and the rebels, and rogues, and criminals end up in places like eisley, on the lamb from imperial patrols.

Might not be able to tell from the OT, but the time period is very distopian, and really, SWG isn't at all like that.

Generally I agree... There should always be more Imperial presence, period. That's how itis in this time period. Rebels will whine, but maybe they could do something where when there's a small little skirmish, the Stormtroopers get much much weaker as to get killed by one shot so they are more of an annoyance than a threat, so that way it's not totally unfair, but also realistic to what we know in Star Wars-- Stormtroopers are not armored well at all.

For the record I am neutral. I'd much rather take a more realistic game than a 'fair' game.
