Thread: A possible balanced option for FD

Well Yimaz, I see the whole "vodoo/meditation near-death thing", but where is the point that i would connect a swindling smuggler/rogue with someone who has dedicated years and years of meditation and self-introspection and gain of self-awareness to the point that they can instantly go cold and dead during a heated fight? - and where is the point that a person can use a light stick to cut off and arm or blast into space, its call fantasy for a reason. Make up your mind are we talking about real life or fantasy because either way I have a vald point.
There are very very very very few people alive today who can achieve this feat from my extremely unfamiliar view on the subject. Even so, these people would do this in a relaxed or even somewhat calm environment, not during a gunfight. Perhaps Kung Fu masters can do this, but they live their lives training to do it in a temple somewhere. - /rolleyes we are talking about a fantasy game very, very, very, very few people have wookiee as a friend, oh wait no one has a wookiee as a friend.
Besides, why in the hell would a smuggler even begin down the path of self-introspection and self-awareness? They seem pretty removed from the truth when they deal in drugs, live by their guns, and openly profess that no mystical energy field or hokey religions have anything to do with them. Thinking that a superstitious belief system based on luck isn't going to do much for someone who needing a immense self-awareness needed to pull of such a feat. - the point was that it is possible to fake death and nothing more than that.
I think if Feign Death is doing what you describe, it should be a Jedi skill. Smugglers = guns, booze, drugs, loose women/men. - ok faking death is not an dirty fighting skill sure. makes sense to me that a noble and hunorable jedi would fake his death.
The only way a smuggler could do what you are suggesting is with a spice. Even if a smuggler were to take that route, they run the heavy risk of being decapitated, stored, or even further attacked to ensure their death. - in your opinion.
As far as bringing in evidence goes. Would you pay some random BH a bounty if he came up to you and said, "yep, I killed him. I did it. He's dead!"? You would need some form of evidence, otherwise you would fund a whole town of lying BH's who never kill a thing. - again when aDB is reg. the BH gets payed. Again when you go back and forth between RL/Fantasy its kinda hard to debate in that situation.
yimaz : Is Axob Freelight dead? I have been waiting for news of my vengeance!
BH : Yes sir, I saw the system message flash against the inside of my helmet's heads up display. He is dead without any question involved.
yimaz : Excellent, here is your reward!
*Meanwhile, elsewhere*
Axob F. : *Hits F1 to stand* When will they ever learn to check a pulse??? That's like the 5th one this week.
/rolleyes what ever...we could do this all day and night. You seem to feel the need to be right that nothing I say will open you up to the possiblity of looking at my point of view. Your right, you win, Im done.........
One Star away whoever you are.

Oh, and I didn't one star you bro. I'm just jacking my jaws.
I know usually the people "in the debate" dont one star it was not directed at you.
I think you see where Im comming from and I see where you are comming from so I guess its ok to agree to disagree. Oh and for the record I like the hell out of you too.

I base my idea that people in Star Wars are alot like people alive today because they seem to be in some ways more advanced than Earth humans and in some ways less advanced. - /agree
Anyways, I'm not trying to be "right" or "wrong" here. I just think it's a whole lot better to remove the skill for people who are engaged in a player bounty fight. That is the exact location of the problem. - only issue i have with that is it goes against the profession dabbling concept the devs want in the game.
You wouldn't have to involve creating other ideas to implement. Yours is a valid one, but wouldn't you honestly rather just keep FD the way it is and take it away from people who are abusing the skill to break another vital component of the game? I sure as hell would. - I would rather see the skill re-vamped cause im not a big fan of it as is. I think it could be re-worked to be be more affective. The Jedi/BH issue just pushed the issue for me cause I dont want to see the skill just get nerfed. Which if those 2 groups dont relax on the issue it will be nerfed and we will pay the price.
I got no beef with you yimaz, I like the hell out of you - /hugand am only trying to be constructively critical. Yes, this game is based in a fantasy world in which many magical things do happen, but at the same time it is just plain damn common sense that you don't lay down and go into a fake death state in front of a hitman running after you with a loaded blaster. - I agree in the black and white sense of faking death, my thinking was FD is a deeper lvl a true skill or artof faking death to the point of really looking dead.
It would work on a battlefield or maybe a small fight, but BH's are after more than your usual enemy. They are after a paycheck to put you on ice. - I do see your point my point is only that there is always someone smarter/stronger/more of a sneak then someone else and it is possible to fool even a BH.
Of course, I hear those Jedi are found in packs or not at all.

Problem with BH and Feign death is, if you were an Assasin, once the mark is down and "dead", you'd give it two shots to the head, two to the chest, just to make sure. Having the chance of FD working I agree should be scaled but even smugglers with just x-x-1-x can feign 100% of the time as far as I have seen, this skill needs to be fixed, not a nerf for once, just fix a sh*tty skill
.
Why shoot a target that all of your equipment shows to be dead?
I'd pop my taget and get the hell out of there if any of his friends should show up. You dont go on molesting the corpse and cutting off head, shooting it and burning it just to make reeeaaaly sure hes dead. ![]()
Imperial law do not give the BH a right to kill people unhindered, the BH are doing shady business, so quick in, do his work and quick out before getting caught.
xx1x isnt waterproof, you will fail to feign, and its not pretty....

Your post has alot of holes. How are biosignature sensors fooled by someone giving an act of playing dead? They are not.
Furthermore, blackbarring is a mechanic of the broken nature of Feign Death, NOT a maniacal BH mutilating the carcass after his machinery tells him the mark is dead.
Bounty Hunters WILL make sure their mark is dead and bring in some form of evidence showing so. You didn't think they would get paid without such evidence? This evidence could be a head, body, or maybe the next day's headline "Senator X gets killed".
In short, biosig sensors ARE NOT fooled by FD. Furthermore, BH's can check a pulse or put two in the head and two in the chest just to be sure. That is how it's done bro. This talk of unlawfully making sure a mark is dead and fooled biosig sensors doesn't make much sense.
It is a BH's job to ensure a mark is dead and to check for many common tricks, like playing dead, that undermine him/her collecting their credits.
I suggest that FD be completely removed from anyone in a player bounty fight and left alone otherwise. Problem solved.
