Honestly, "dabbling" in an advanced crafting profession would yield much fun. (Except architect or tailor) If you insist on dabbling, get novice armorsmith and novice weaponsmith so you can make runs of WUKs and AUKs. You know how smugglers love those yet can't find them that often.

If you can get the resources, there are items at Master Artisan that are needed by the advanced professions in high quality and by the factory crate. With the CURB hitting, some crafters had to give up Master Artisan to take up some combat to protect themselves on harvestor/factory runs. So you might can hit a market with those.

Plus, as mentioned previously, new speeders are coming out and we're seeing an increase in speeders getting taken out. So those will sell well.

Well i dropped BH, due to the same reason, the whole Jedi/BH thing is dead, seriously -(side note a friend who's glowie complained cause forcecloak makes you Vis) and i also got sick of just combat stuff. So then i messed around with some different templates, and bingo was reading here and saw someone had master SW, i thought oh yeah. So for me i'm Master Smuggler, Master SW & 4/4/4/ Smuggler Alliance pilot and loving it. I dont make ships, only ship parts

I can get work on MP ships as a Gunner or Mechanic and its cool

Its all about saving creds and having fun.

heh, went to the DE forums, asked about it... the other profession boards need to loosen up lol. only other prof board I've ever had a similar experience to the smuggler boards is the commando boards.

anyway settled on msmug/mart/nov dancer. Now there's a template.

I've had the following template for well over a year and have really enjoy it :

Master Smuggler

Master Artisan

Merchant 0004

Novice Armorsmith

Novice Weaponsmith

Novice Medic

It's not a "great" money maker, but it's not bad.

You can set up a vendor for Swoops and the new speeders comming out, Smuggler Tools ( reason for Novice AS & WS ), and Spices. You won't get uber rich overnight, but it will give you a pretty steady income to enjoy.

Only real draw back is your CL will be 54, so your limited in that regaurd. But you can still hunt with guildies and defend yourself from the lower NPCs.

Just wanted to throw this out as something to consider.

Hey don't feel bad, I went back to my original character concept which was Smuggler/Dancer. Then again I am use to being gimp, as I played a Rogue in EQ back in '99.

IMO it's much more important to like/enjoy your character than to be uber. Now for people that value that, fine. In the end it just doesn't work for me. Lord knows I tried. So if someone didn't want me around because I am CL 54 or so that actually works out to both our advantageaswe would be very different players.

I 'waste' time roleplaying too.

I wish I could fit more dancer into my temp, but I'm sticking with master artisan. That way I can be the most retardedly diverse character I can possibly be
