The problem with that assesment is that it then leaves room to people thinking of Smuggler as the embodyment of underworldly deeds, including theft, fencing etc. as well as other variants, be it Karrde as a leader and captain, or whatever; each smacks of trying to fit Smuggler into a class catagory, while the game is intended to be profession based.

Smuggler should enable you to Smuggle successfully, with anything in addition to the abilities involved coming from other professions.

Unfortunately it's likely that what we'll have instead is Smuggler giving you access to combat skills and exclusive missions, but I guess that's better than the current alternative, which is next to nothing resembling Smuggling in game at all.

Master Smuggler, Master Merchant was my very first temp. I wanted to be exactly what you think, i wanted to run a series of "shops", one on every planet, to sell both legal and not so legal items.


Infact, in the manual that came with the original game, the pre-req for smuggler are listed as: 0040 marksman, 4000 brawler, 0040 artisan.


I believe this was dropped in the beta phase, but had already been printed in the manuals.


As far as selling contraband on vendors, im sure people will find a way. It would take some serious coding to make spice and slicing tradeable, but not go on vendors at all. I'm sure it would be too much for our dev's.

I agree with the merchant idea,I see smugglers as bussiness men/women with guns.Like a cross between a mobster and a used car sales man.


And I wish the master box would add something to JTL.
