Thread: What will you do after the Wookie CURB?

I'm sorry I still don't think this is a good idea.

So what if it takes two months to master a new combat profession after CU? Is two months so horribly long for the current player base?

Like I said, this is to further gear SWG toward the instant gratification crowd. That same crowd that can't deal with shuttle waits, buff waits, etc. etc..

That SAME crowd that would scream bloody murder if pretty much ANY of the Smuggler Revamp ideas we want ever actually went live because they would be horribly inconvienienced by them.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Idunno. I disagree.

I mean, I spent awhile mastering Swords (hell, I've been working on Smuggler for over a year now) and the thing I like the most about it is that I can target the mind pool pretty fiercely. I understand that that is going to change-

I would HATE to have to start all the way over on something I ALSO wouldn't know if I liked or not. ESPECIALLY if it's going to take me another year to master it.

I will use test center a great deal before I log on live with the CURB. I will also wait a while into the CURB being on live to take part as well. I only have one shot at this and don't want to mess it up.

But I DO appreciate the shot.

It is a GREAT idea!!! I HATE, I repeat, I HATE grinding, and would not want to regrind to master anything, I don't have the time to do. I LOVE the ideas that they have hinted at, ie, Armor that has different resists, no more having everyone running around in comp, etc. This will be a great thing, indeed. And no i am not dropping Smuggler, still.

Really not liking the Idea of the free point switch. If smuggler becomes good after cure do we get a flood of new smugglers who have done nothing but bad mouth us for the last year?

No more than the dabblers we have now. The only tree they'll have access to is the DF tree.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Why do you think there'd be a swarm of people wanting to become smugglers suddenly? Besides, we aren't a combat profession and therefore would not be available for the SP swap.

I just hope Pistoleer is worth a damn afterwards.

Getting disarm back would be REAL nice.

Hell, I might consider going Triple Master if that happens

The only issue I have with the insta-point swap is that is basically changes what it means to be a particular profession. Is a professon really just the title and skills one has attained? Or does one measure a profession by what the player has endured and learned to achieve that level?

We all believe the in the post-CURB world, combat will be more than just how fast i can spam my best special at. So without the growing-process, the learning one goes through while leveling up, all those future "Masters" have going for them are skills and a title, not experience or knowledge to put those skills to a proper use.

Not sure if i'm actually making sense with this or not. The fact is, 90% of players will immediately allocate their skill points into what they believe will be some uber-template, without really knowing how good each profession is going to be or how they're going to compliment one another. SO eventually, most people will have to grind something else anyway.

I might re-edit this in a bit if i find a better way of putting these thoughts together.

What will I do? I guess see if there's any money to be made helping out the wookiees (outside of just grinding missions all day).

The SP allocation won't be fair for any skill tree which required some serious effort (for example - BH Investigation line where you actually had to do a bunch of missions instead of just AFKing meatlumps). I'm curious to see how they will divide the points for allocation if they decide to implement it, there is little sense for a master of melee profession to be able to switch to a ranged profession and vice versa, and all the lines in the hybrid professions should be excluded, too...

Unless they completely change all the skill trees (in which case it would be much more fun to 'regrind' the profession anyway), I don't really think it's possible to do this without either putting too much restrictions and making the process very complicated, or just giving everyone a totally free template
