Thread: Any Official Word on Concussion Shot?

Well, according to the description, the Concussion shot isn't working as intended, but as a previous poster mentioned - it is working better than intended.
Smugglers are, according to the CU paper "The dominant Crow Control Profession.Smugglers will be receiving a whole new line of abilities that allow them to temporarily remove an enemy combat threatso that it can be dealt with at a later time."
Well, based on what we have now, to fulfill that statement, the concussion shot has tobe working as intended and that it's the description that is wrong. If the Concussion shot is changed to reflect it's description - how is the above statement correct? (I know I know it's a working paper that is subject to change - but I haven't heard of any change yet to it).
Just my 2 cents on it.
Cheers

Concussion shot just roots. It doesn't delay attacks, so it really only removes melee threats. If you concussion shot a ranged target, you're not going to gain anything unless you get out of their weapon range (and if you're using a pistol, that's not going to happen.)
In my opinion, Concussion Shot should be a ranged paralyze (see the CM ability paralyze.) You have two targets, you concussion shot one and it sits there for 40 seconds while you pound away on the other target (if it's melee, you restrain and kite it. If it's ranged, you lowblow it to slow it's attacks and hit it faster than it hits you.)
The master smuggler version of concussion shot should be a cone effect paralyze. You cone concussionyour targets, then start damaging the one you want to deal with now. The other targets are helpless until you damage them, or the concussion wears off.

I believe squadleaders retreat breaks roots, not sure on this exactly, but whenever I root a high end faction NPC I see the "retreat" pop up and the root breaks, I don't know a squadleader in game to test this though
I've been seeing root break with burstrun also.
I have long suspected that there existed some move that broke roots (although, I thought it would be Dive Shot)- whether burst run and retreat works would make a lot of sense if we are supposed to use Concussion to get away (in this case making our opponents run).NOW, let's keep this under our hats people.and I will be adding burst back to my toolbar, just in case
But... I don't have a hat....

I went Krayt hunting last night and the Grand Krayt was using retreat and It broke all states every time it used it.Dunno if that works for Player Chars as well or not.
I find that Krayts (as well as other creatures) use retreat not as a means of necessarily 'retreating', but as an automatic action when it gets too far from its spawn point.

Parawan Nutricake is your friend
that wouldn't get you agro'd because everything that got hit would be mezzed and you could pick one target out and kite it or whatever.

If and ONLY if the specials are SEPERATE so I can choose between single target mez and cone mez. I don't want to aggro half the planet just to CC three critters on my group's current lair, and I'm pretty sure that sort of thing would piss off my group pretty bad.
If they keep it a root, I'm happy(we have other specials that do a tolerably fine job of dealing with ranged opponents-- see "stacking LB and PS"), and they can do whatver they like to it in PvP to work some balance, though if there's a readily available way to break it, I don't see a problem. Regadless, I'd be very irritated if they altered it in PvE, considering how *essential* it is for pretty much ANY high-end PvE hunting. A krayt that is unrooted at pretty much any time is a dead bunch of riflemen, and don't tell me that we should be required to take Jedi tanks out for every upper end PvE hunt we want to do. That would be just about everything that's wrong with the game right now.

yeah i'd be happier having separate attacks, one being AoE and one being single target.
but which attack would get to be which?
