Thread: Any Official Word on Concussion Shot?
If they make it break upon attack, its useless unless they also apply the attack delay. Personally, I prefer it as a root.. and since Smuggler/Pistoleer seems to be very similar, the logical argument exists for the similarity in special. But again, just wondering if there has been any info regarding this from the developers. Thanks!

First, you need to remember that this is supposed to be our Mezzing skill, effectively shutting down the opponent. Meaning the player can't move, attack, change posture, equipment, and so on, untill the time is up or the player recieves damage.
My guess is that either there was something odd in the code which wasn't causing the player to shut down completely, so they altered it to a root while they work on fixing it; or that the code is overlapping with the Stopping shot root somehow, so that its working incorrectly.
Either way, it needs to be fixed, as a 30-40 second root which doesn't break on damage is a bit excessive.
according to the skills description its not working as intended but i feel that its working better than intended.
a we have spent the skill points and it givs the best ability to a smuggler a uber version of stopping shot. concussion shot is the best root in game and u have to master smuggler to get it.
also i for one dont want to see roots change i feel they r balanced and great how they are.... what is the real point of rooting some one if it breaks on the next attack and for all those melee guyz crying about roots not being fair i feel its inst so if you are rooted any ranged guy can still fight on.... thye made this game ranged orientated because that whats starwars is.... and if you have no ranged combat that your fault for not having a balanced template... its no different from going into pvp with master doctor and master ranger and wondering why you cant do any damage..... if you are half elite prof and a crafter then you arent fully commited to pvp and should pick a bettre prof for pvp.... melee and ranged have no clear advantage in pve you can say ranged can root and kill with out taking damage but you tk's dont even have to buy armour so i feel its fair..... and most melee people who do cry not all.... but most are ones that melee stacked pre cu and totally killed ranged when they shouldnt of due to bad game mechanics.
that is my opinion however biased thyat is one way of how i feel.... melee players may put across very god valid point that i have not concidered but at this point i feel all is ok as far as roots are concerned.

I believe squadleaders retreat breaks roots, not sure on this exactly, but whenever I root a high end faction NPC I see the "retreat" pop up and the root breaks, I don't know a squadleader in game to test this though
I've been seeing root break with burstrun also.
P.S. I don't know why everyone is crying about last ditch. I used it in a duel against a Jedi and landed it for 6000 points of damage and he mitigated it down to 500.

Well, according to the description, the Concussion shot isn't working as intended, but as a previous poster mentioned - it is working better than intended.
Smugglers are, according to the CU paper "The dominant Crow Control Profession.Smugglers will be receiving a whole new line of abilities that allow them to temporarily remove an enemy combat threatso that it can be dealt with at a later time."
Well, based on what we have now, to fulfill that statement, the concussion shot has tobe working as intended and that it's the description that is wrong. If the Concussion shot is changed to reflect it's description - how is the above statement correct? (I know I know it's a working paper that is subject to change - but I haven't heard of any change yet to it).
Just my 2 cents on it.
Cheers
