Thread: the direction of the game is dictated by Lucas Arts Virrago

Yeah? Well, Lucas Arts doesn't write the buggy code - so SOE's not out from under the gun as far as I'm concerned.
but LA has to approve the code fixes and dictates if programmers can be allocated to needed fixes. If placating more jedi whiners is deemed 'more important' by LA and their bag of one-trick-ponies *cough*jedi*cough*, then SOE is still at their reign of control.
What could be telling is that those 'cracks' starting to appear could be due to a nearing of contract renewal. What if SOE is so fed up they dont renew? Then what? Warner dumped MxO right after release and within months SOE bought them. Hope something similar doesnt happen. I would hate for Electronic Arts to get ahold of this.. they are the death of all game titles that arent sports.
Indeed - but my point is, the sloppy code originates from SOE alone. We're talking about a 2 year old game that really needs 1GB to run well and 2GB to run smooth all the time, where a 128MB video card will do but a 256MB card is needed to run everything on high... this kind of hardware didn't even exist when SWG was released. A 2 year old game should run without a hithch on a new PC, even with everything on high.

Tashunka does have a point here. This game was released when buying a top end machine meant purchasing a 1.5 GHz P4, with 256MB DDR, 40GB 5200RPM HDD,and a 64 MB GPU..... and Cable Broadband was just about to hit full swing.
I have a 3.0GHZ P4, 1GB DDR, 80GB 10kRPM HDD, and a 256MB GPU. I have twice the PC, and then some, to what the top of the line was two years ago, and I can barely scratch out 15FPS.
I woul dlike to beleive this game has serious graphics that is a resource hog, but I dotn see it and I dont beleive it. Sure, it look spretty good, but Ive seen a whole heck of a lot better, and I run pretty smooth on those. I think really that there are a lot of memory leak problems going on...... a LOT!. There is no way this game should take the PC it takes in order to run. This game runs about as well as EQ2 does, and EQ2 has a lot more going on graphically than this game does.

So I feel kind of bad that my venom's been aimed at the hapless fools at SOE. Oh well, sincerest apologies, SOE. You guys only suck at Community Relations and QA testing
Clicky to Virrago's post
Sure LA has to approve every Patch, but not like SOE want to make us believ. SOE just make the change, and than they run to LA and say "we have this fixed and that", or just "we have a new pub", and LA give tham the approve. perhaps the only really approve LA will go in detail is, if SOE is adding new Content, or new SW stuff like the vehickle or the rewards etc.....LA has to approve that they are Star Warsy.
I will not say that LA are the Angel and SOE are the Devil, both of them don't really care about us!!, but if u see how SWG is changing more to EQ2, like the more and more loot system and the Grind only game system.... and don't forget EQ2 is from SOE
