Thread: Hopefully this post will allieviate confusion with the backpack/crate issue

When you have crates just sitting in your inventory, not your backpack, you can just head over to the weapon/armor, and start slicing.
Items will be removed automagikally as they are required. However, it would not use the charges on laser knives correctly. It would treat a 10 as a single charge knife.
With this change, as it is written, they want to remove that capability so we have to manually click everything out. We've done it in the past, but it's a pain in the neck. It's not so muchan issue with equippedbackpacks, we would use them to store our laser knives, so we would control how fast they were being pulled from their crates.
So this is only an issue with crates of laser knives? Wow, people have a way of blowing things way out of proportion nowadays.
What happened to the smuggler community that tested through what was going on instead of just reading a patch note and freaking out?
The patch note says: "tool". If they're talking about just the knives, then this is not exactly a problem. Everything else pulls from a crate just fine, regardless of it's position in your inventory.

The problem is with the knives...
Their patch notes say it is a change to all smuggler tools.
Perhaps that helps clarify it a bit more?
It's not so much the knives being prevented from being auto-pulled. That would actually be nice, but with ALL tools not being able to.
Hopefully they only changed the knives, but the patch notes say differently.
I am telling you from getting into the game about a half hour ago, buying a CDEF weapon from the vendor, and slicing them, that my clamp and WUK auto-pulled from the crates I have. I confirmed this to be true. I do not have any loose WUKs or clamps.
Because of the knife crate bug, I have never made crates of knives. I always make them as I need them in my inventory. So I don't know if they made any change to the knife crates.
But WUKs and clamps are definitely auto-pulling from crates. I didn't try AUKs, cause I didn't buy any armor to slice. But I'm willing to say that they auto-pull fine as well.
I can say that playing a smuggler since Sept, this was not all that bad when we had to deal with it before. I agree it is not convienient, but not all that bad all in all.
It seems to me that everyone is in an uproar about thier interpretation of some patch notes. Max has stated that he tested in-game and you can still slice with your tools in a crate, provided you are not wearing the container they are in.
Has anyone done any testing that is contrary?

Which is great, many of us are worried though that it is just a bug that things are still working right
The wording on the patch notes suggests otherwise.
Everything is working as it should...still. Whether or not that is their intention, I don't know.
The question about knives is the next order to clear up.

o You will no longer be able to slice an item by using a tool in a crate. You will have to remove it from the crate first.
What they meant to say was
Profession: Smuggler
o You will still be able to slice an item by using a tools in a crate. WUKs, AUKs, Molecular Clamps, and FANs will work as they have in the recent past. In addition, we have fixed the method by which Precision Laser Knives worked, so that they now correctly allow 10 uses from a single knife before the crate contents are decremented, rather than just a single use. Thank you.
Hmm...I can see where that got mistranslated.
