Ah... at least it gives us something to do while we wait for SMUGGLING!

You're still waiting? I gave it up. I'm moving on and taking my money elsewhere.

I've been smuggler longer than any other prof, yesterday i hit 1 year playing swg and i've been a smuggler now for probably 8 months of that. Slicing supposedly works now but is a disappointment in its implementation. Smuggler to me isn't a combat prof anymore because the majority of its specials are useless... I've been pondering giving it up as well, just been hoping they give us some smuggler love. Haven't made spices in months, have a ton of crated clamps that do nothing. but hey Feign still works...

Creature Handlers just got a major helping of dev love: a total revamp of the pet and training system.

This has given me a teeny-tiny ray of hope, since it seemingly came out of the blue. Well, some of it was apparently mentioned at fan fest, but still -- boom! Everything's changed, and it looks like forthe better.

So please wait a bit longer, Queen N'varra Wren. =) That's my recommendation.

Sure he would. At least long enough to make the hundreds of millions of credits that I did selling Faction Points.

A true Smuggler doesn't turn up his nose at doing something that would make him filthy rich.

Thanks Angus.

Also, N'Varra...I try and think of it this way...I've been here for 2 years, and I've always maintained that I'd stay until we had smuggling missions before leaving. If they aren't what we deserve (because after 2 years of work, they better be mighty spectacular!) I can quit without wondering "what if..."

So, seeing as how techinically the text was just being filled in (and the system polished,) I'll still wait for another two years if I have to. Granted, that will suck. But I'll still wait, because even after all the unfairness shown to us by LucasArts and SOE, I'm still a reasonable person that will give the system a fair shake.

I know there isn't much to do right now with a Smuggler (hell, I won't even log in as mine these days because I'm too busy on my AS alt,) but do what a lot of others have done: give yourself a deadline, and then stick to it.

I know you'll make the right decision...Smugglers always do.

V E E L A "her royal hawtness"
I am Jack's Smirking Revenge. I am Jack's Ignored Profession.
Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.

In the end, it comes down to whether or not you're still having fun. If you're not having fun as a Smuggler now and there's an alternative that you can think of you would like, I would say change and go for that. If your level of fun hasn't changed, but merely your hopes and aspirations about where Smuggler can go, I would say remain a Smuggler.

Why? Well, simply because there is still hope Smugglers will be able to Smuggle; when and how obviously (hah) I have no idea, but both the recent CH changes on TC (they sound very nice btw) and GreenMarine's words (read all of it, there's a bit in there about good designers still remaining ) give me an inkling of the simultaneously strongest and weakest facet of human existence.

If for you it's the former and you do decide to change professions, it's not like you'll be removed from the Smuggler community or have your ties cut off from the Underworld entirely. We'll still be here when (finally) we get to Smuggle and there's nothing saying you can't come back to the fold on that day (heck, it's not like you haven't been waiting 2 years for it, a break from having the waiting hanging over your head isn't going to hurt).

In the end it all comes down to what's fun for you now.

It would be interesting to hear how much of the "CH revamp" was done in cooperation with the CH Correspondent, addressing the profession issues and implementing player ideas. Any posts about that?

While GreenMarine was an awesome guy, After so much time going by and the CU coming into a crunch time I'm sure he was re-assigned to something besides smugglers for a long time. At least thats why I thought we never heard from him much after that. I will always have my Smuggler I love it =)

A very good question, and I am wandering through the threads regarding these changes to see what, if any, input CHs and their correspondent had on this system. I would hope they had some, but so far, it kinda looks like they did not have much input on it. Kinda like what happened with the slicing "revamp" for smugglers...

However, unlike the slicing "revamp", this one appears to be more appealing and truly useful and empowering to the CHs (not to mention that it is a huge, sweeping change -- much more comprehensive than what Smugglers have received thus far). CHs will now have total control over what it takes to tame, train and grow their pets, unlike the slicing system, where Smugglers have no control. By that, I mean thatSmugglers cannot craft the tools they need to perform ANY weapon or armor slice, and no other profession can either (i.e. Smugglers used to depend on AS and WS for AUKs and WUKs). Smugglers now rely on looted items, and anything above a simple tool kit drops from rather uber mobs.

So far, the overwhelming majority of CHs appear to be very excited about these changes; we'll see in the long run how it all shakes out. BE's seem to be concerned that their role in creating pets has been seriously diminished. I don't know enough about it all yet to know if this is truly the case.
