Thread: DEV's Can We Please Get A Review Of The Smuggler Tools Loot Drop Tables

As a BH I dont see why anyone would whine about getting lower level tool drops, better than DTs and MI every kill, besides the low level tools are just as important as the high level tools as you can't use an ICB without using a Finely Crafted Toolset first correct?Besides, BH's need the AB slice as much as anybody

someone with a brain!
Seriously, ifsomeone isbright enough to realize Smuggler components are necessary to slicehis beloved guns and composite / RIS armor, this won't be an issue. But have a look at the BH forum.
"OMG, I killed a bossmark and all I got was smuggler loot. Devs, fix this!!!111one" is everywhere.

QFE. Last time I went in there and went off on all the lamers complaining about slice loot, they all started going off on me about being a "respec noob." Little do they know that grinding smuggler was just as bad if not worse than BH pre-CU. I'm grinding BH / smuggler on an alt server, and invest isn't near as bad as somepeople would have you believe. At least you get something out of it and make some money. Smugglers only SPENT tons of credits to get through the slicing tree pre-CU.

Here's an idead. why don't they create a smuggler terminal so SMUGGLERS can get missions and possibly recieve loot drops. Hmmm....smugglers with smuggler missions that get drops that are oriented towards the smuggler profession.
I TOTALLY agree with you on this. BEING an MBH for FOREVER....i was very pleased we got some GOOD loots...but SEEING population as a WHOLE being shafted on loots is downright stupid!!!! SMUGGLERS with thier own mission that gave slice components would be a good idea...i ALMOST think this was a move by the Devs to make certain professions depend on each other THUS propagating the trade market BUT how can you propogate a trade market when the LOW level stuff is almost NON existant!
IF (on the Devs part) they were trying to propogate the trade market ATLEAST let the lvl 1 slice components be a loot option (OR A HIGHER loot option) for ANY mobs! this drought on low end slice components is ABSURD! If anything, i could unerstand that MBH could loot low end smug components and making HIGH end rare...but how BASS ACKWARDS is it that HIGH end is sitting at my backpack in stacks of 80 and i cant GIVE em away but LOW end are almost non existant
My point: IF BHs get highend slice components...then make the low end semi COMMON on mobs for the low levels to get some cash while growing in template. OR make HIGH end the rarity and give BHs the loot of low ends and making THOSE flood the market.
A crazy idea that i have thought about is make BH loot "phaseable" like reasources..meaning "OOOH this months is low end...take bounties like mad..and get your guild some components...THIS week is high end...get to those bounties we need em..." of something like that IF and only IF this was some sort of ploy to make other professions (by the devs) need each other and to propogate the trade market!
if the latter was thier objective...they SORELY failed in that aspect!
/rant off.....jsut my thoughts

Finely crafted toolsets do drop from bh missions. I grabbed about 20 of these working my way up the investigation tree.
Im sick of 'these can be looted from bh missions' WE ARN'T BHs. Why do BHs now get the best market items(Slicing comps, BH armor[im seeing so many of those these days its sad.]. Not everyone has BH and smugglers themselves arn't BHs yet BHs still corner the Smuggler market.
But if the Smuggler revamp actually happens and the bazaar changes are included, expect an even larger drought of Smuggler tools.
Unless of course the Dev's actually use a brain cell or two and set the tables to drop tools in Smuggler missions (or elsewhere).
Some think it's a great idea to remove sliced items, spice, and tools (and any other contraband) from the bazaar and vendors, and realistically, it jives.
Selling prohibited items publically doesn't make sense. You don't see ads in the paper selling crack or stolen cars (or at least, not explicitly).
But practically, it will inflate prices and/or remove the market of contraband from the game.
Even though I did enjoy the game more before the CU, There are a few things I like, such as the lower amount of spam at starports mostly, but everywhere in general.
I had a M. Doc, so I sometimes added to that, but I had a reasonable loop time, like 60 seconds or so, not the 15 that some people think they need to advertise their crappy, overcharging loot vendors, or that they are selling faction for .2495 cr/pt.
When I first heard about these proposed changes, I figured that spam would increase a lot, though not to pre-CU amounts, but now I don't think it will be quite that bad, though it will increase.
But only for selling sliced goods, not the tools that we need.
I'm betting that rather than waste their time standing around trying to sell tools, they will get deleted, creating an even greater shortage of tools.
Sliced items have always been intended to be a rarity because it was illegal and was to have repercussions if found with contraband.
The 'crackdown' was anything but, and with the ease of obtaining tools pre-CU, slicing was common.
Creating the lootdrop tools does take a step to making sliced items more rare, but not that much.
Gone are the days of huge slicing contracts with 'smiths.
Removing the sale of all contraband from the bazaar and vendors will depress the market to near oblivion and make slicing a practically useless skill.
Only the most dedicated and wealthy players will seek out a Smuggler to slice their gear.
Spice is apparently going to be changed to drop only, and that line of skills will be replaced with something (I hope) useful, but slicing will become the new spice line, rather pointless.
Not being allowed to sell contraband items on the bazaar would be fine, but allow them to be sold on vendors, since vendors are hired by someone to sell for them.
Though I'm guessing that this would take a fair bit of recoding and is unlikely to happen.
