Thread: A nice response to people who accuse smugglers slicing theft...
maybe we should come clean and let everyone know that every container always has a uber weapon, a single force crystal, a millions creds and a naked picture of Leia
I wont slice them, I ask people to find a novice who needs the xp

Not funny at all. People have been banned from the game for this type of activity. We had 4 or 5 on Lowca that would pull this stunt, trade the weapon/armor...log out or fly off.
Scamming is still illegal, it will get you more than a bad rep, it will get you kicked from the game for good.
Don't do it.
If you read the TOS/EULA you will see thatit clearly states "ALL TRADES ARE FINAL."

I would have thought that stealing an item thats been given to you to slice constitues trade fraud.Merchants can get reported via the customer service system for trade fraud, id imagine the same can be done to us.
I agree that we should be able to be reported if we were to do that, but having someone hand you an item is a *little* different than misrepresentation. Plus from all the fraud stories I've read on the board and CSRs didn't do anything, I'm suprised people trust us at all... It really is a testement to the smuggler communities reputation that we do any slicing business at all with the way the process works as is.
Sorry as someone that just stepped into the smuggler profession I have to say this, as a novice people know there is a strong chance I'll fail to open the container, but 5 of 5 times I've managed to open successfully. every time for free.I've beentempted to retain an item from the containers buteveryone so far has contained junk items so I hand them back to the person.
If we were to retain one or two items from a container that we found interesting how would the customer know? or after hunting and obtaining several spare containers that we fail to unlock trade them out that for theirs?
Frankly it is all a matter of personal integrity. The person that is upfront with some one and deals with them straight will undoubtbly recieve repeat buisness. those that are less then honest.... well.. they will get reputations and it would be nice to see an implimentation of bounties on their heads.
Well, it's kinda like my own stupid mistake that I made. Guy hands me a wonderful suit of comp to slice, I get some GREAT slices on it, pass it back to him.... and accidentally tack an extra zero on the end of the price. O_o 127,000 credits. And he paid it.
So the smuggler in me has to ask -- do I come clean and let him know I messed up? Or do I keep it?
...............
Well, what do YOU think I did? I'm a bloody smuggler! =D

Then the question is, Why would the Devs Create a Rouge Class, Only to have him not be Rogueish? Seriously, If someone were roleplaying a Thief, Told some Guy, Hey buddy, I can make your stuff better, Just hand it to me for a sec, And he does. Then the guy runs off with his stuff. Who's Fault is it? (Not syaing I do this, Just making a General Point)
I am sure the Guys from Lowaca Were prolly Banned for something else Or at least didn't put up a good enough Arguement.

Hello.... novice smuggler.. less then 6K... I'm lucky i was able to buy some raw materials to make some knives
See I wouldn't have a problem with that at all. BUt if you do it, you should get a general TEF. I don't know how they'd impliment it, but if you're going to rob someone they should be able to fight back. Robbing someone in some way that they can't take any action against you is CHEATING, not role-playing.
