I just got my Master Smuggler/Pistoleer to Novice Commando. Probably not as effective as the Triple Master, but it sure is fun to BBQ Ewoks. Mmmmmm, tastes like chicken.

I'm currently a Master Smuggler and Master Pistoleer with some Marksman left.

I'm dropping marksman down to 0401 so that I can pick up 4440 Fencer.

You can read the benefits of that idea HERE.

It compares the Triple Master (MSmuggler/MPistoleer/TKM) to Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/Fencer 4440/Marksman 0401

I think some people mentioned that you won't be a master loot whore with pistoleer. That is true, but I still have a good time, and get some semi-decent stuff, with master pistols and smuggler. You can forget about elders, but you can still whip the snot out of NPCs like Aakuans and most Tuskans. You'll still get CAs up to about +8 or 9 or so, on the upper mid level mobs. And with a good republic blaster you can kill a lot of the lesser night sisters.

My template is soon to be master smuggler / master pistols with scout 1020, artisan 0040 and novice medic. Then you can open a sliced weapon / spice / smuggler tool shop. Get a harvest droid with at least a 100 harvest mod and you canalso cash in on meat and hides when the docs, chefs and armorsmithsare having price wars. It's not an uber kick ass template, but it is a really well rounded one with lots of options and oppurtunities to do more than just fight.

i went Master pistoleer and Master Teras Kasi as the prereqs for novice smuggler demand the Pistol line in Marksman and the Unarmed line in Brawler this seemed the Correct way to go, it also make the Character more diverse, a ranged a melee and a trade skill

the tk kicks ass but the pistol is a bit weak , however i get a ranged knockdown with the pistol so i usually do low blow followed by panic shot as i run upto something and then whip my knuckler out as i get into melee range and this seems very effective

hopefully the upcoming combat rebalance will give the pistol a bit more punch

You beat me toit. Was going to say defence from fencer will help pistoleer greatly.

The question is will the Combat rebalance remove the dodge stacking at all? i was a master fencer before dropping it to pick up pistoleer and had a long hard think about stacking the pistol/fencer defenses and as i couldnt hope to predict what the combat rebalance will bring i decided to go with the triple master smugg/pistol/tka instead

comments anyone?

Yup Very complimentary!

I think, for me, it came down to Meditation, Melee Mitigation 3, and the fact that it was...unarmed. I like weapons...fists suck

Now that I'm a Fencer though, I can grind and cut stuff to the Kill Bill theme or that funky music from the infamous Zed scene in Pulp Fiction

If you read the new note on the CURB you'll see that defence stacking will no longer be as important. It's already been stated that you will be able to change your template free of xp charge for a one time only when the CURB finialy comes out (when ever that may be, still a while off I should think.) It probably go along the lines of the Jedi revamp where they got to chose there skills. If your Master Marksman, Scout medic I don't think you can expect to go stright to master rifles, pistols, carbines. I've been wrong in the past though so they might just give everyone one free chance to master whatever the hell they like.

I'm porbably going...

Master Smuggler Master pistoleer and maybe some Merchant on Kenney (hopefully this will be viable in PvP to some extent.

Master Bounty Hunter, Master Carbines or Master Rifles (this depends if they put rifle skills in BH) and medic with Tig

I have been triple master since April. I never really used my pistols after mastering because of the TKM, HOWEVER:

I have speed capped my pistols and Iwould say that speed capped Pistol is just as powerful as TKM if you have decent equipment. Last ditch/stopping shot/Fan shot /low blow are fantastic moves. No way to compair 74 speed to 92 speed. its just great.

I use Pistols mostly all the time now. TKM is a passive bonus now (defenses) so I am very tough.

No downside to TKM in this scenario, I recommend it 100%

I agree completely, speed capped Pistoleer vs. Non is like night and day.

Im a Master Smuggler, working on mastering pistoleer. Im not too into the whole melee combat scene, so the Triple Master is not something I'm interested thing. What can I add to this template to make me viable in PvE, specifically so that I can compete in getting the valuable loots. PvP is not really something I plan to participate in alot, but Id like to be able to survive.

I shared your loathing of melee at one point...

Then, I picked up TKM. Now, I couldn't tell you the last time I picked up a pistol to kill something. I still retain Master Pistoleer, and am waiting to see what the CU will do for me. But, the damage I do unarmed (even without VKs) is great. And, with some of the stuff you go through to get a medic to notice you through the tumblers in a med center, meditation is invaluable.

If nothing else, at least give it a shot...you can always re-template for something else if you still don't like it.
