I don't mind it being in Master Pistoleer as one of my smugglers will have commando and the other pistoleer... It isn't a solo clone I want to be, it is the fact that the pistol looks sharp and it tends to look more along the lines of my style weapon. The main issue I have is the same one that the above poster mentions. I just like the black one better... the metal just looks silly to me.

The DL-44 was made by BlasTech, a common and completely legitimate corporation.. there's no reason it shouldn't be Master Pistoleer, to be honest... just cuz Han used it doesn't mean non smuggler's couldn't/wouldn't. In fact, if I remember it was one of BlasTech's best selling models to security personell and the like.

Actually, if you read some of the documentation (I'll try to get the exact source after work later today) it says lots of smugglers and people of comparible professions (i.e. less than legitimate)used the DL44 because it was a high power, heavily modifiable pistol. Basically it was a preferred weapon by people such as usbecause of it's power. It was useful because if you needed to punch a hole in something, say like Storm Trooper armor, it pretty much always got the job done. If I remember correctly, the gun was very restricted as well because of it's power and ability to be modified. So in the end, while Han used it, many other smugglers and "low lifes" were said to use it as well. It was a popular gun in the underworld.

It's a tricky one, but I think I'm going side with sharing the love and being OK with this. I think the dual cert would be a good compromise, but I'm not going to be up in arms about the fact it's not a Smuggler only weapon.

After all, we now have some Smuggler weapons, as well as one at Master (more than I thought we'd get when they first released pics of the new weapons), and I actually feel a little sorry for the Pistoleers. They've been a victim of the nerf bat too and have been a kind of kindred spirit in that respect.

I feel for them that they see other people get to enjoy what they think should be exclusively their domain (I'm almost tempted to draw comparisons with our own JTL 'smuggling' mission crusade), but I don't agree that all pistols should be Pistoleer only cert.

Would I love to wave about a DL-44? Sure thing. It's stylish, but is it any good?

At the end of the day, I want the best weapon for the job - I use a DX2 most of the time now, and it looks like a bleedin' glue gun!

Maybe I'm not as concerned 'cos I plan to keep Master Pistols anyway, but I really think that we're coming out ahead so far in the CU: New pistols certs, combat mods and the potential for a revamp despite the loss of triple master (Helooooo commando instead ) and things like this.

And that's why to me this is an important issue. It's THE iconic weapon of the underworld especially if it's more beefed up than a standard issue. I'd rather have a beefed up DL44 than either of the new pistols.

Heck, if the MODIFIED ones I have now wouldn't be broken, I'd shut up about this. But first, they break the four custom DL44s I have now and then they give the 'modified' one to another profession? I feel screwed here.

Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology.

Blastech DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol

A weapon made famous by the smuggler turned diplomat Han Solo, the Blastech DL-44 heavy blaster pistol packs the formidable punch of a high-powered rifle into a small sidearm not much bigger than a standard pistol. Favored by gunmen and smugglers - dangerous people with quick reflexes, keen peripheral vision, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to survive - it causes even the bravest to duck for cover when they find themselves staring down it's barrel.

Actually, I got around for work a bit faster than I though. The abovequote isfrom "Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology". I can try to type up more from the book later if necessary. That's the "general discription" though. It talks about comparible pistols and also the customizations Han did to his. I have a couple more things that describe the dl44 asI mentioned above, just gotta remember to come back to this thread after work

Look at it this way...

I'm MS/MP and I like the idea I can use it and other Smugglers can't.

Do you MS/MBH types think the MBH Scatter should be used by all Smugglers? I don't.

The fact that Han used a DL44 doesn't wash, maybe he was also a Master Pistoleer...hmmm?

In light of the Pistoleer revolution about not getting to use all the guns...I inclined to agree with the "let-em-have-it" camp. I think it works better that we can organize our template to aim for what guns really mean something to us. I like the DL44...I'm going M Pistols. I don't feel like I have to as a smuggler...but it works well with what I want to do. If I wanted another gun I'd go up that tree or skill set. Moving the Certs around allows for MORE diversity in characters and I like that a lot.

Once again, if you agree to having the DL44 as a dual cert, then you are opening things up for the Pistoleers to continue their argument that they should be dual-certed for EVERY PISTOL IN THE GAME.

Which, as i've tried to mention, will make Smuggler just another profession people dabble in, and don't respect. Like it is now.

The DL44 is just one gun of many. If you want it, go pistoleer, and live with it. I'm wasting ALL my extra skillpoints from my template to pick up novice Carbineer because I want the ee3. Within my template I already have two carbines MUCH better than the ee3, I'm getting it for looks. I'm not complaining, I'm not trying to get the ee3 dual-certed to BH (even though the ee3 is actually a rifle, Boba Fett sawed off the barrel and made it a carbine, thus making a strong argument for a BH cert), I'm just getting the cert for it.

any Smuggler that wants an uber powerful DL44, any Pistoleer that wants the Intimidator, any whatever that wants the whatever, if it's THAT important, then get the cert through template building. You can bet dollars to donuts that the specials you'll have in your template will be well suited to the gun you wanted to get. I can't believe I said dollars to donuts, look what you made me do!

OK, forget dual certification. How about the other idea for compromise? They get the current metal version and we get a less-powerful-but-still-better-than-the-crappy-marksman black version?

I'm suprised at the ambivalance toward this that I'm seeing from the smuggler community. What happened? Are we so used to being screwed that we just take it? Or are so many of us going to be pistoleers that it just doesn't matter?
